Two more cases of diphtheria have been reported in Thanh Hoa.

In addition to the two cases mentioned above, 21 other F1 contacts are continuing to be isolated and monitored at Muong Lat District General Hospital and at home.

Previously, as reported by Dan Tri newspaper , a patient named PLM (born in 2007) tested positive for diphtheria in Doan Ket neighborhood, Muong Lat town, Thanh Hoa province.

On August 1st, patient M. experienced a sore throat and did not improve with medication at home. On August 4th, the patient went to a private clinic and was advised to go to Muong Lat District General Hospital with symptoms of mild fever, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, red and congested throat mucosa, and swollen and red tonsils on both sides...

In the 14 days prior to the onset of symptoms, patient M. did not leave the local area, no one in the family had the same illness, and contact with a diphtheria patient has not been identified.

After discovering the outbreak, authorities traced, reviewed, compiled a list, and quarantined 23 F1 cases who had close contact with the patient. Simultaneously, they cordoned off the outbreak area and disinfected the surrounding neighborhood where the patient lived.
