Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training: AISVN International School does not yet meet the requirements to resume operations.

According to this email, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em - chair of the school board of AISVN International School - stated that the school had received all emails and phone calls from parents regarding the first day of the school year.

"We have now completed the classroom assignments based on the registration link for the student start dates submitted on August 3-8 and are in the process of arranging the necessary teachers, staff, and equipment to prepare for the 2024-2025 school year."

In addition, we are currently working with the relevant authorities on reopening the school.

Next week, the school will process payroll for current staff and finalize contracts with new employees. The school will begin the new school year in August and will notify you three days before the start date.

"Parents need to be extremely vigilant and consider transferring their children to other schools."

On the evening of August 9th, in an interview with Tuoi Tre Online regarding this matter, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, stated that the appointment of Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu to the school board of AISVN International School by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em was not yet official.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has clarified that in order to appoint a chairman of the school board, the school must submit the application to the department for review and approval.

Ms. Ut Em's announcement of appointing the chairperson of the school board without prior recognition from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training is unacceptable.

"I affirm that, at this time, AISVN International School is not yet eligible to resume operations. For the school to reopen, it must address all the reasons that led to its suspension, especially regarding financial resources."

Therefore, parents need to be very vigilant and consider transferring their children to another school so that they have time to get used to the new learning environment.

"Since the beginning of July 2024, the Department of Education and Training has sent out guidance documents, and even developed software to make it easier for parents to transfer their children to other schools," Mr. Hieu said.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training issued a decision to suspend the educational activities of AISVN International School for a period of 12 months, starting from July 1st.

The school is looking for a headmaster.

Later that evening, in an interview with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Ut Em confirmed that she had sent the aforementioned notification via email to parents. Ms. Em also admitted that Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu had not been recognized by the Department of Education and Training as the chairperson of the school board of AISVN International School and that her authorization of Ms. Thu was incorrect.

"The Department of Education and Training invited me to a meeting and stated that Ms. Anh Thu's signing and stamping of school documents in her capacity as chairperson of the school board was incorrect."

"Besides, I am currently the chairperson of the school board, and I am still within my three-year term on the board. Therefore, my authorization of Ms. Thu is incorrect," Ms. Em stated.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ut Em affirmed that the school will reopen in August 2024. Currently, the school is looking for a new principal.

"Currently, the total number of students registered to continue their studies at the school is around 600-700. The school is in the process of dividing classes into groups; we just need to assign teachers. The current teaching staff is relatively sufficient; we are only lacking a principal."

"The information about Dr. Thomas Annis - the principal of AISVN, currently on the school's website is incorrect and will be corrected this week," Ms. Em added.
