Today, August 9, many parents of AISVN International School received an email notification from the school board about preparations for the new school year 2024-2025.

According to this email, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em - chairwoman of the AISVN International School board - said that the school has received all emails and phone calls from parents related to the first day of the school year.

“We have now completed class assignments based on the registration link for student start times sent on August 3rd and are in the process of arranging the necessary teachers, staff and equipment to prepare for the 2024-2025 school year.

Additionally, we are currently working with relevant authorities regarding the reopening of schools.

Next week, the school will process payroll for current staff and finalize contracts with new staff. The school will start the new school year in August and will notify you three days before the start date.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and support during this time.

"Parents need to be extremely vigilant and consider transferring schools for their children."

On the evening of August 9, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online about this matter, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em's appointment of Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu to join the school board of AISVN International School was not official.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has made it clear that if a school wants to appoint a school board chairman, it must submit its application to the department for review and recognition.

Ms. Ut Em's announcement of the assignment of the position of school board chairman without the recognition of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training is not allowed.

"I affirm that up to this point, AISVN International School does not have the conditions to resume operations. If the school wants to resume operations, it must overcome all the reasons that led to the school's suspension, especially the issue of financial resources.

Therefore, parents need to be extremely vigilant and consider transferring schools for their children so that they have time to get used to the new learning environment.

Since the beginning of July 2024, the Department of Education and Training has sent out guidance documents, and the department has even created software to make it easier for parents to transfer their children to other schools," said Mr. Hieu.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City decided to suspend the educational activities of AISVN International School for 12 months from July 1.

The school is looking for a principal.

In an interview with Tuoi Tre Online that evening, Ms. Ut Em confirmed that she had sent the above notice via email to parents. Ms. Em also admitted that Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu had not been recognized by the Department of Education and Training as the chairwoman of the AISVN International School Board and that her authorization to Ms. Thu was wrong.

"The Department of Education and Training invited me to work and said that Ms. Anh Thu's signing and stamping of school documents with the title of school board chairwoman was wrong.

Besides, I am currently the chairperson of the school board, still in the school board's term of 3 years. Therefore, my authorization to Ms. Thu is incorrect," Ms. Em said.

At the same time, Ms. Ut Em still affirmed that the school will resume operations in August 2024. Currently, the school is looking for a principal.

"Currently, the total number of students registered to continue studying at the school is about 600 - 700. The school is dividing the classes, just need to arrange teachers to teach. The current teachers are also relatively stable, only the principal is lacking.

The information about Dr. Thomas Annis - AISVN's principal, on the school's website is currently incorrect and will be adjusted this week," Ms. Em added.
