(LĐ online) - On the afternoon of April 2, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Don Duong district solemnly held the Ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Don Duong district (April 2, 1975 - April 2, 2025), towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

● 50 YEARS OF STABLE JOURNEY OF NEW RURAL DISTRICT

At the ceremony, Comrade Duong Thi Nga - Secretary of Don Duong District Party Committee read a speech commemorating the 50th anniversary of the district's Liberation Day and announced the release of the Don Duong District Party History Project for the period 2005 - 2025.

Reviewing tradition, going back to the historic April days of 50 years ago, in the spirit of rapid attack, the army and people of Don Duong bravely and steadfastly stood up to completely liberate Don Duong district, contributing to the glorious victory of the Great Spring Victory of 1975.

The Party Committee and People of Don Duong district have promoted the revolutionary struggle movement, built and developed forces, fully prepared conditions to consolidate administrative boundaries, and at the same time created a defensive position for Da Lat.

Although the enemy's forces were many times larger than ours, equipped with modern weapons and means of war; while our forces were both small and had to be spread out over a large area, sparsely populated, difficult to transport and communicate, food, provisions, weapons, and medicine were often lacking, and supplies and support from the province and the Central Government were still difficult, but under the leadership of the Party, directly by the Triangular Zone Executive Committee, the army and people of Don Duong fought bravely against the invaders and the American and puppet lackeys who were frantically fighting against the revolution before their complete collapse.

At exactly 8:00 a.m. on April 2, 1975, at the District Center, the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam was raised, signaling the day of liberation of the homeland, marking the complete victory of the revolutionary struggle full of sacrifice and hardship of the People of Don Duong.

After nearly 21 years of resistance war against the US, to save the country, with countless hardships and sacrifices but extremely glorious and heroic, the Party Committee, army and people in the district, with the support of Military Region 6, organized a coordinated force to liberate Don Duong district, opening wide the gateway to liberate Da Lat town and Tuyen Duc province (April 3, 1975), contributing to opening up the attack routes to the Northeast of Saigon city, the final decisive battle, ending the victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, liberating the South, unifying the country in the Great Spring Victory of 1975.

After the liberation day, the Party Committee and the people of all ethnic groups in Don Duong district had absolute confidence in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, promoted the heroic tradition, overcame all difficulties and challenges, actively built a revolutionary government, fought to eliminate reactionary organizations, especially disintegrating the reactionary organization Fulro, maintained national defense and security, and restored and developed the economy.

Looking back at the development path of Don Duong district after 50 years (1975 - 2025) from a district that is still basically an agricultural district, with a small-scale economy, not really stable development, low competitiveness of products in the market, and has not created a breakthrough for rapid development. The material and spiritual life of a part of the people, especially in ethnic minority areas, remote and isolated areas, still has many difficulties.

But with the leadership of the District Party Committee, the solidarity of the people in the district, the consensus of the entire political system and the directions of the Central and the Province, Don Duong has gradually overcome difficulties and challenges, achieving many important results in many fields...

In 2015, Don Duong district was recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting new rural standards, which has contributed positively to the overall development of Lam Dong province and the whole country. The above achievements have gradually created a new look with many advantages and new opportunities for Don Duong district on the path of development and integration.

By the end of 2024, the economic structure of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector accounts for 61.7%, is the main pillar of the district's economy, with an average growth rate of 6.9%; the industrial and construction sector achieves a growth rate of 9.9%; the economic structure according to the production value of this sector has a significant shift; accounting for 17.3% of the economic structure. Services achieve a growth rate of 9.5% and have a positive shift, accounting for 21% of the district's economic structure. Average income per capita reaches 76 million VND/person/year.

There have been many progressive changes in the cultural and social fields; the system of schools and classes at all levels has been invested in, built and upgraded. The quality of education has gradually stabilized and improved. The whole district has a total of 48/53 schools meeting national standards, reaching a rate of 90.6%.

8/9 communes and towns meet the National Health Criteria; the rate of people participating in health insurance is over 95%. 104/104 villages and residential groups meet cultural standards (100%), 100% of communes and towns meet new rural cultural standards, civilized urban standards. The rate of agencies, units and enterprises meeting cultural standards is 98%. The rate of multidimensional poverty households in the district has decreased to 0.59% (equivalent to 144 near-poor households); of which, the rate of multidimensional poverty households of ethnic minorities has decreased to 1.29% (equivalent to 89 near-poor households). There are 6 communes meeting advanced new rural standards and model new rural standards.

The quality of the political system's operations has been improved. After 12 congresses, the scale, organization, and quality of the Party organization and the number of Party members have been increasingly improved; after liberation, from 6 Party cells with 47 Party members, the whole district now has 47 grassroots Party organizations with 2,730 Party members.

National defense, security, social order and safety are ensured, politics is stable, the political system is firmly consolidated, the role of the Front and mass organizations is promoted, the great national unity bloc is strengthened; the leadership capacity and fighting strength of grassroots Party organizations and Party members are increasingly enhanced, basically meeting the requirements of building and developing the district in the new period.

The 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Don Duong district is an opportunity for the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people in the district to review the glorious history of the Vietnamese nation in general and the army and people of Don Duong district in particular in the resistance war against the US to save the country under the leadership of the Party, thereby arousing pride, enhancing patriotism, love for socialism, the will to be self-reliant, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, strengthening the great national unity bloc, promoting the spirit of revolutionary offensive in the new period, the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration.

A very important and meaningful content at the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Don Duong District is that the District Party Committee announced the release of the Historical Work of the Don Duong District Party Committee for the period 2005 - 2025.

After more than 2 years of collecting, researching and compiling the book History of the Don Duong District Party Committee for the period 2005 - 2025, the historical work has now been completed. With 306 pages, including 2 parts, 4 chapters, the book has vividly recreated the development stages, the efforts of the Party Committee, the government, and the people of the district for the cause of building and developing a rich and civilized homeland in the first 20 years of the 21st century; the journey of building and developing Don Duong district in high-tech agricultural production, in building new rural areas and model new rural areas.

● AWARDING COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS FOR THE CAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF LAM DONG PROVINCE TO 50 INDIVIDUALS

During the process of building and developing Don Duong district in particular and Lam Dong province in general, Don Duong district has many comrades who have made contributions to the development of the district and the province. In order to recognize the contributions of comrades, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee decided to award the Medal for the cause of building and developing Lam Dong province to 50 individuals.
