Petrovietnam donates 6 billion VND to build Great Solidarity houses in Can Tho and Kien Giang

At the program, Petrovietnam donated 1 billion VND to build 20 Great Solidarity Houses in Can Tho City; 5 billion VND to build 100 Great Solidarity Houses in Kien Giang Province, along with many gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and policy families in the locality.

This is a social security activity that Petrovietnam maintains and implements annually in all localities across the country, with a budget of hundreds of billions of VND, contributing to supporting poor rural areas, bringing happiness to many difficult circumstances, contributing to socio-economic stability, especially for localities where Petrovietnam projects are located.

Mr. Tran Binh Minh - Member of Petrovietnam Board of Directors and Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - General Director of SWPOC presented a 1 billion VND sponsorship plaque to build a Great Unity house for Can Tho City.

Petrovietnam's representative presented a 5 billion VND sponsorship plaque to build a Great Solidarity house for Kien Giang province.

Petrovietnam/SWPOC leaders presented flowers and gifts to pay tribute to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Nhan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Binh Minh - Member of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam said that social security work has always been given special importance by Petrovietnam and its member units. This is an important activity in the long-term, sustainable development strategy and is associated with the four core values ​​of oil and gas culture "Aspiration - Intelligence - Professionalism - Affection", which are the responsibility and affection of oil and gas workers towards the community and society.

In addition, Petrovietnam is always highly aware of protecting the ecological environment and limiting the negative impacts of climate change, with the participation of the entire political system in the Group. With that spirit, the Group has initiated a program to plant 3 million trees, to preserve the environmental landscape, create a green, clean, beautiful space, and improve the quality of the ecosystem in the Group as well as in localities with oil and gas activities.

To realize the above commitment, at this program, Petrovietnam's member units SWPOC and PTSC joined hands to support 150 million VND to accompany the Can Tho City Youth Union to implement the program "Millions of green trees - For a green Vietnam". The program not only contributes to limiting climate change but also adds more green space to Can Tho City, consolidating the title of National Green City in 2024.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - General Director of SWPOC and Mr. Tran Hoai Nam - Deputy General Director of PTSC presented a sponsorship plaque of 150 million VND to Can Tho City Youth Union to implement the program "Millions of green trees - For a green Vietnam".

The Block B - O Mon Gas Pipeline Project spans and passes through 3 provinces of Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Can Tho City. Therefore, along with the project implementation, social security work in the locality is always concerned by Petrovietnam/SWPOC leaders with high spirit and responsibility.

On this occasion, the government and people of Can Tho City were also informed by SWPOC Operator about the progress of the Block B - O Mon Gas Pipeline Project.

The Block B - O Mon gas power project chain is a system connecting from upstream to downstream, including the Block B Field Development Project, the Block B - O Mon Pipeline Project and 4 gas power plants O Mon I, II, III, IV. In which, the Block B - O Mon Gas Pipeline Project with an onshore pipeline (102 km) passing through 3 provinces/cities of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Can Tho is being implemented by SWPOC Operator in sync with the chain progress (upstream and downstream power plants).

SWPOC General Director Tran Thanh Hai said that thanks to the attention and direction from the Government and the support from local departments and branches, in 2024, SWPOC completed the selection of contractors for the onshore EPC package and signed a contract with the PTSC - Lilama 18 joint venture in December 2023. Regarding site clearance compensation, the policy framework was approved by the Prime Minister in June 2024. The measurement and inventory work has been carried out by localities and basically completed. Currently, localities are developing and approving compensation, support and resettlement plans, expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024. Compensation, support and resettlement for households are expected to be completed and the site handed over to the construction contractor in the fourth quarter of 2024 on schedule.

SWPOC leaders would like to express their sincere thanks for the attention, guidance and support of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and the localities where the pipeline passes through, especially in the work of compensation and site clearance. “We are aware that the Block B - O Mon Gas Pipeline Project still has many challenges ahead, and we hope to continue to receive support from the leaders of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group as well as from the localities,” said Mr. Tran Thanh Hai.

The Block B - O Mon gas-power project chain is a large-scale project chain, with the upstream investment alone being nearly 12 billion USD and the expected gas production output reaching 5.06 billion m3/year. This project chain not only provides energy for the country but is also expected to create thousands of jobs, shift the economic structure and contribute to affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the sea and islands.

On behalf of Petrovietnam's leadership, Mr. Tran Binh Minh expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the provinces/cities, departments, branches and local agencies where the pipeline passes through (Can Tho, Kien Giang) for supporting and facilitating the implementation of tasks in the Block B - O Mon Gas Power Project Chain, especially the Block B - O Mon Gas Pipeline Project; at the same time, he expressed his hope to continue receiving guidance, attention and support from the leaders of Can Tho City, Kien Giang Province, and departments, branches and organizations so that the Project Chain can be successfully implemented as expected.

At the program, to recognize the project investor's contribution to local social security work, representatives of Can Tho City and Kien Giang Province leaders awarded certificates of merit to recognize Petrovietnam/SWPOC's contribution to social security work and support for local people.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City awarded a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group for its positive contributions to social security work in the city.

Mr. Le Thanh Viet - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang province awarded a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group for its positive contributions to social security work in the province.

Mr. Le Thanh Viet - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang province expressed his emotions and sent his deep gratitude to the delegation of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and its member units for many years, along with production and business activities, for their affection and support in implementing social security programs in the province; at the same time, he pledged to effectively use this funding to build solid Great Unity houses, actively contributing to improving the lives of families in difficult circumstances and showing gratitude to those who have contributed to the country. The Kien Giang provincial government hopes to continue to accompany Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and its units to implement social security programs and plant trees, contributing to the sustainable development of the locality.
