Vietnam.vn would like to present to you the image of an old fisherman who has spent his whole life with the sea through the photo series "The Old Fisherman" by author Nguyen Thanh Triet. The old man clings to the sea with his boat, having gone through many ups and downs over the years. No one can count how many winds have blown in and left wrinkles on his face. No one knows how the mist and salt of the sea have callused those diligent hands. The photo series was submitted by the author to participate in the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam", organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Sitting on the beach in the middle of a bright summer afternoon, the old fishermen of Tam Thanh turn their eyes heavy with worry towards the sea. The hardship of the job of “eating waves, talking to the wind” is clearly visible on the faces full of crow’s feet and the veiny, dark hands of these old fishermen.

For coastal fishermen, boats are home, the ocean is their homeland, so every time they leave port, they carry with them the hope that when they return, the holds will be full of fish and shrimp.

The fishermen of the fishing village where they were born and raised have been making a living and making a living here for hundreds of years. Every day, people go out to sea to catch seafood using baskets and small boats, gradually creating a prosperous and crowded fishing village like today.

In 2024, the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" continues to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website.   https://happy.vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive information products, making practical contributions to the propaganda and promotion of a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world. Thereby helping people in the country, compatriots abroad and international friends access authentic images of the country, Vietnamese people, Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights, towards a happy Vietnam.
