The winners of the car license plate auction paid the budget more than 2,700 billion.

A representative of the Traffic Police Department said that as of August 2, after 188 days of auctioning car license plates, the authorities had auctioned a total of more than 1.18 million car license plates of all types.

Of which, the total number of car license plates successfully auctioned is 32,151, the current amount paid to the budget is more than 2,830 billion VND.

"The total amount that the auction winners have deposited into the specialized collection account to pay to the State budget is more than 2,700 billion VND," a representative of the Traffic Police Department informed.

Some auctioned properties were sold at high prices such as: 51K-888.88 (VND 15,265 billion); 30K-555.55 (VND 14,495 billion); 11A-111.11 (VND 8,780 billion); 72A-777.77 (VND 6,850 billion); 88A-666.66 (VND 6,705 billion); 36A-999.99 (VND 5,285 billion); 22A-222.22 (VND 5,130 billion).

In August, the online license plate auction floor is expected to feature a series of super VIP five-digit license plates from many localities across the country. Typically, Hanoi has license plates considered super beautiful such as: 30K-999.99, 30L-666.66, 30L-777.77, 30K-888.88. Ho Chi Minh City has the following assets: 51K-999.99, 51L-666.66, 51L-888.88, 51L-555.55.

Five-digit license plates from many other localities were also put up for auction in August for collectors to "hunt", such as: 38A-666.66 (Ha Tinh); 14A-888.88 (Quang Ninh); 15K-333.33 (Hai Phong); 70A-333.33, 70A-555.55 (Tay Ninh); 43A-888.88 (Da Nang); 49A-999.99 (Lam Dong), 60K-555.55 (Dong Nai), 34A-888.88 (Hai Duong).

On June 27, the National Assembly passed the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety (effective from January 1, 2025). It includes provisions on auctioning vehicle license plates, contributing to the effective exploitation of public assets such as vehicle license plates, creating revenue for the State budget.

At the same time, invest in infrastructure for registration and license plate issuance; reform administrative procedures, create favorable conditions for people; ensure the issuance of license plates is public, transparent, and in accordance with regulations; all people have equal rights in choosing license plates to participate in auctions.

In the Law on Road Traffic Safety, the National Assembly assigned the Government to specify some contents on vehicle license plate auctions, including adding regulations on auctioning license plates of automobiles operating in the transport business (yellow background, white letters and numbers) and motorbikes and scooters.

The Ministry of Public Security is coordinating with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance to focus on developing a decree to submit to the Government on the auction of vehicle license plates. After the Prime Minister signs and promulgates it, the Ministry of Public Security will implement the auction of license plates for automobiles operating in the transport business (yellow background, white letters and numbers) and motorbikes, motorbikes along with automobiles.
