Ahead of the FIDA Days training camp in September with the Vietnamese national team, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam unexpectedly "moved his residence" from Binh Dinh Club to the newly promoted First Division team Thanh Nien TP.HCM, as confirmed by coach Nguyen Viet Thang.
The head coach of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club, Nguyen Viet Thang, confirmed to Thanh Nien Newspaper: "Dang Van Lam will be the newest member of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club, with a contract for 4 seasons."
By joining us, Dang Van Lam will receive 6.8 billion VND per season, and he has already received 50% of his contract fee (equivalent to two seasons). I am very happy that the team has recruited him."
Lam "Tay" will pack his bags and head south to play for Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club.
Having trained and played alongside Dang Van Lam in the Vietnamese national team, coach Nguyen Viet Thang highly appreciates the goalkeeper's talent and professionalism.
Dang Van Lam was once the first-choice player for coach Park Hang-seo in top tournaments such as the 2019 Asian Cup, the 2018 AFF Cup, and the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
After parting ways with coach Philippe Troussier, Lam "Tay" was used by coach Kim Sang-sik in the 3-2 victory against the Philippines in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
