On August 6, in a post on social network X, blockchain security company PeckShield announced that hackers had found a vulnerability in Ronin Network - the blockchain network built by Sky Mavis for the company's games like Axie Infinity.

According to experts, it is likely that the Ronin bridge was attacked by the MEV bot (Maximal Extractable Value - A strategy for processing transactions on the blockchain network to optimize profits).
The attack was discovered when hackers stole 4,000 Ethereum (equivalent to 9.8 million USD), forcing the project to stop operations for investigation.
On the same day after the incident was discovered, on social network X, Sky co-founder Mavis Aleksander Leonard Larsen confirmed: the Ronin network bridge temporarily stopped operating for investigation, more than 850 million USD worth of Ronin assets are still safe.
PeckShield said the vulnerability could have come from a white hat hacker or an ethical hacker looking for potential vulnerabilities, so it is likely that the 4,000 Ethereum will be returned.
Previously, in March 2022, Ronin Network was attacked and 173,600 Ethereum and $25.5 million in cryptocurrency were stolen. At that time, the incident caused damage equivalent to $615 million.
