On August 6th, in a social media post, blockchain security company PeckShield announced that hackers had found a vulnerability in the Ronin Network – a blockchain network built by Sky Mavis for games like Axie Infinity.

According to experts, the Ronin bridge was most likely attacked by MEV (Maximum Extractable Value) bots.
The attack was discovered when the hacker stole 4,000 Ethereum (equivalent to $9.8 million), forcing the project to shut down for investigation.
On the same day the incident was discovered, on social media platform X, Sky co-founder Aleksander Leonard Larsen confirmed that the Ronin network bridge had temporarily ceased operations for investigation, and that over $850 million worth of Ronin assets remained safe.
PeckShield stated that the vulnerability likely originated from a white-hat hacker or an ethical hacker searching for potential flaws, so it's highly probable that the 4,000 Ethereum will be returned.
Previously, in March 2022, Ronin Network was hacked, resulting in the theft of 173,600 Ethereum and $25.5 million in cryptocurrency. At the time, the incident caused losses equivalent to $615 million.
