Pioneering the development of open IoT platforms
Although he was late in IoT technology, Le Hong Long has successfully obtained a patent in the US. Sharing with Dau Tu Newspaper reporters, the founder of EOH Company Limited revealed that after 13 months of filing, on October 13, 2020, the IoT technology "Plug & Play" owned by EOH was granted an exclusive patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Organization (USPTO).
Speaking more about this technology, Mr. Long said that this is the core technology in the E-Ra IoT platform, an open IoT platform researched and developed by EOH. With "Plug & Play" technology, depending on the purpose of use, users on the E-Ra platform can quickly connect and manage their IoT devices, creating smart systems and optimizing performance.
“If a business or individual researches IoT solutions including Web Dashboard, iOS, Android App, it will take them an average of 6-12 months, while a good person will take about 3-4 months. But based on the E-Ra platform, the time is shortened to 15 minutes. Thus, users can save time and costs, to focus on creating ideas and quickly deploying smart solutions for each industry,” said Le Hong Long.
"We are ready for the explosion of IoT technology in the next 3-5 years. With support mechanisms from the Government and functional agencies, EOH will spread IoT technology strongly to every corner of production and life."
- Le Hong Long, founder of EOH Company Limited.
Initially, E-Ra was a closed platform, allowing only EOH engineers to program and adjust according to the needs of each project. However, after 8 years of experience in implementing IoT projects, from industrial to civil projects (smart urban areas, smart homes), from November 2022, the IoT platform
E-Ra is moving to an open form. Accordingly, IoT development technologies are published to the outside in the form of a “library”, allowing third parties to freely use the tools in the “library” to develop and create IoT projects in their own way.
Le Hong Long said that over time, the platform has increasingly proven its effectiveness, demonstrated by the continuous growth of users and has reached 8,000 users after more than 2 years.
Join hands to build a smart connected society
IoT technology is a system of physical devices that are connected and exchange data over the Internet. These devices can be any device in daily life, such as environmental sensors, industrial sensors, household appliances, vehicles, industrial machines, unmanned devices..., with the ability to collect and share information automatically without human intervention. The development of IoT technology helps people create smart ecosystems, improving efficiency in production and life.
In Vietnam, before 2020, there were some parties working on IoT, such as in the smart home segment, but no party worked on IoT platform services like EOH did. According to Mr. Long, most parties develop IoT software for their own devices, or outsource it to others. As for EOH, the platform pursues a software service rental model, but always has a 6-month free trial. After these 6 months, users will pay a fee depending on each service package, from basic to advanced, to continue using the tools on the platform. The platform can also offer custom-designed packages, suitable for customer needs in different fields, such as smart cities, smart buildings, smart parking, smart healthcare, etc.
As someone who used to work for large corporations specializing in providing industrial equipment in Germany and Switzerland, Mr. Long believes that IoT technology will explode in the same way that the Internet changed the world more than 30 years ago. His business trips abroad made him realize that global corporations are pouring “mountains of money” into developing IoT technology for each individual equipment manufacturer, while in Vietnam, IoT is still a relatively new concept.
Although he had risen to the position of director of a Swiss measuring equipment company in Vietnam, he eventually decided to quit his job to pursue his own path. In 2017, Le Hong Long founded TeslaTeq, the predecessor of EOH.
TeslaTeq specializes in providing IoT solutions in the water industry, including providing IoT hardware devices, as well as platform technology specifically established for the management and control of continuous water quality measurement devices.
Along with the rapid development of IoT technology and the surrounding ecosystem, in early 2020, EOH was born based on TeslaTeq's experience and technology. EOH focuses on providing an open IoT platform to support the community interested in researching and applying IoT technology in many fields.
With the goal of spreading IoT technology throughout Vietnam, since 2022, Mr. Long and EOH have actively cooperated with universities/colleges in the Southern region to bring IoT technology into classrooms. Thousands of paid accounts on the IoT E-Ra platform have been sponsored so that students have more professional IoT tools in their studies and research. In addition, EOH also accompanies schools to build training and practice programs for students related to the IoT field; supports the development of research topics and IoT projects in schools.
In the context of increasingly developing IoT technology, Le Hong Long is completely confident in the future ahead. Every day, the Company has new customers willing to pay to use the E-Ra IoT platform. Not to mention, several domestic and foreign business customers have raised the issue of cooperation with EOH, so that they can build their own IoT solutions and provide them to the market.
Looking at the long term, the founder said that EOH's development is in line with the country's flow in promoting digital transformation, when on October 9, 2024, the Prime Minister approved Decision No. 1132/QD-TTg on Digital Infrastructure Strategy to 2025 and orientation to 2030, which sets the goal of each person having an IoT connection account on average.
