Controlling tax risks in e-commerce business

On the morning of August 2, 2024, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Tax Consultants Association (VTCA) in collaboration with the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) and MISA Joint Stock Company (MISA) organized a seminar on "Controlling tax risks in e-commerce business" with the aim of accompanying units, business households and individuals doing e-commerce business to master knowledge and experience to fulfill tax obligations in accordance with regulations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) shared: "Understanding the difficulties of households and individuals doing e-commerce business in Vietnam in the issue of tax declaration and payment, VECOM in collaboration with VTCA and MISA organized a seminar to support the provision of knowledge, legal regulations and technological solutions to help households and individuals ensure compliance with tax laws".

At the seminar, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc - Chairman of VTCA affirmed that along with the development of the digital economy, e-commerce activities have grown strongly, especially with livestream sales sessions achieving record revenue of 100 - 150 billion VND per session. This is a great opportunity for brands to increase revenue and promote the overall economy of the whole society. Ms. Cuc noted that households and individuals doing e-commerce business must comply with tax payment obligations, self-declare, self-calculate, self-pay and be responsible for the declared data. Ms. Cuc emphasized that if they encounter difficulties in paying taxes, households and individuals doing business can seek professional accounting service units or tax agents for professional support. In addition, individuals doing livestream sales also need to pay attention to selecting quality products from reputable brands to ensure the rights of users.
