Surrounded by majestic limestone islands, Vung Vieng fishing village, also known as Vong Vieng, is the final destination on the "Heritage Journey" of tour route number 4 on Ha Long Bay. This is a floating fishing village where fishermen have long lived by aquaculture and seafood farming on floating rafts. In 2014, Quang Ninh relocated all residents to shore, but Vung Vieng fishing village still preserves the typical cultural values of the fishermen, making Vung Vieng a tourist destination on the bay.

At first glance, the scenery in Vung Vieng fishing village is quite similar to Ninh Binh - Photo: NGUYEN HIEN

Compared to the fishing villages in Ha Long Bay, Vung Vieng is the second largest, after Cua Van fishing village. In the middle of the vast ocean, the limestone islands cluster together, forming a basin to protect the village. From the pier at the beginning of the village, visitors can choose to sit on a bamboo boat or kayak to explore the village in the middle of the sea. Most visitors choose to row their own boat so they can go slower, slowly admire the surrounding scenery, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Leaving the pier, looking at the light bamboo boats drifting ahead on the blue water, among the jagged limestone mountains, at first glance visitors think they are in Ninh Binh. But just rowing a little further, the scenery changes completely. The lovely little raft houses floating on the water gradually appear.

Each house has a different color, some are blue, some are pink, but all are small. They are located against the cliffs, occasionally there are a few boats of the fishing village people. In July and August, there are often sudden rains on the bay. The rain is not heavy, nor is it thick, but it is light and creates a cool feeling. The check-in point that cannot be missed in Vung Vieng is Cao cave. The locals here compare this structure to the village gate. It is an arched opening close to the water surface, above is a towering limestone mountain that makes anyone who sees it cannot help but admire the miracle of creation.

Through Cao Cave, the rapid water flow lies between two rocky mountains. If you don't row hard, the boat can easily be pushed into the cliff by the current. At that time, you should stay calm, put the oars deep, row hard to move the boat forward. After getting out of that current, the water surface becomes calm and peaceful again. The experience of rowing the boat lasts about 40-45 minutes. So visitors can relax, let go of the oars, and let the boat drift gently. Coming to Vung Vieng on a rainy day, Ms. Ha Trang (Hanoi) still had memorable experiences in this fishing village located separately from the mainland. "Vung Vieng fishing village is simple with the daily activities of the people. There is no hustle and bustle like the space in other fishing villages. In addition to the feeling of breathing fresh air, feeling the saltiness of the ocean, hearing every sound of the waves, I had moments of truly immersing myself in the wild nature, living slowly, listening to the emotions deep inside", Ms. Trang confided.
In addition to Vung Vieng fishing village, the 3-day, 2-night "Heritage Journey" on Ha Long Bay also takes visitors to explore Xuong Rong Island - the last point of Ha Long Bay, Co Cave (Thien Son Cave), the stone park, and Bai Tu Long Bay...
