* Thoai Son district is honored to be the first district in An Giang province to achieve the new rural district standard in 2018, exceeding the planned schedule by 1 year. Continuing that joy and pride, the Party Committee, government and people of Thoai Son district today have stepped up the ladder to successfully conquer the advanced new rural district in 2023.

Up to now, the district has had 14/14 communes achieving advanced new rural communes, 2 model new rural communes, and 3 towns achieving civilized urban areas.

Commune roads in the area include 11 routes with a length of 42.99 km, by the end of 2018, 100% had been invested in hardening. From 2019 to now, communes have paid attention to performing well the regular maintenance of the commune road traffic system in the area. At the same time, organizing investment and construction to ensure necessary items for traffic safety, as well as planting trees on the routes. Currently, the proportion of kilometers of commune roads maintained annually, ensuring bright - green - clean - beautiful and having necessary items (signs, signs, lighting, speed bumps, trees ...) according to regulations.

There are a total of 31 hamlet and inter-hamlet roads in the area with a total length of 118.83 km. Up to now, the rate of km of hamlet and inter-hamlet roads that have been asphalted or concreted and maintained annually; have necessary items according to regulations (signs, directional signs, lighting, speed bumps, trees, etc.) and ensure light - green - clean - beautiful, meeting the technical standards of the Ministry of Transport in the area of ​​14 communes is: 118.83 km/118.83 km, reaching 100%, an increase of 40.03 km and an increase of 36.1% compared to 2018.

Alleys and hamlets in 14 communes include 21 routes with a length of 19.4km. Up to now, alleys and hamlets have been paved and ensured to be bright - green - clean - beautiful.

Along with the synchronous development of transport infrastructure, the district always pays attention to and effectively implements socio-economic development programs and plans and housing support policy programs in the district. Up to now, 14 communes have 27,909/31,766 households with permanent or semi-permanent houses, accounting for 87.86%.

Agricultural production has had a strong transformation of crop and livestock structure; the development of small-scale industries, trade, services, and tourism has also gradually developed; large enterprises have been attracted to production, attracting about 10,000 local workers. Up to now, the average income per capita in the district's rural areas has reached 73.5 million VND/person/year and the average production value/ha of agricultural land has reached 215 million VND/ha, the poverty rate has gradually decreased every year, to 1.32% now.
