Hundreds of kilograms of old batteries were collected from the Battery Hunter campaign launched by OCB.

Accordingly, as soon as the campaign ends, all collected old batteries will be handed over to a specialized unit (with an environmental license to collect, transport and treat hazardous waste), strictly complying with legal regulations and using the most advanced technology for treatment.

At the treatment plant, batteries will undergo classification and pre-treatment before being destroyed in a modern technological system with temperatures ranging from 650-1,232 degrees Celsius, ensuring complete destruction of hazardous compounds.

In particular, the ash after treatment is not discarded but reused as raw material for cement production, absolutely not causing environmental pollution. The entire process will be closely monitored through an automatic monitoring system, with data transmitted directly to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, ensuring all safety indicators according to Vietnamese standards.

Bustling branches welcome many customers to exchange old batteries and receive green gifts.

"Every old battery we collect today is not simply an act of recovering potentially harmful waste, but a building block for a sustainable green future.

We believe that, with the cooperation of customers, partners and the community, this campaign will not stop at an environmental protection activity but will spread into a habit, a responsibility that every individual and business is willing to carry out. OCB is committed to continuing to accompany the community on the greening journey, for a sustainable Vietnam", Mr. Pham Hong Hai, General Director of OCB shared.

Officially launched in March 2025, the OCB Pin Hunter campaign has been deployed synchronously at 63 branches nationwide, with collection stations installed. With a minimum of 15 old batteries (AA, AAA, C, D types), customers can exchange them for "green" gifts such as canvas bags, bamboo straws, kraft notebooks or exclusive beautiful account numbers from OCB.

It is known that, besides the OCB Pin Hunter campaign, the bank also carries out a series of other practical activities to contribute to environmental protection and towards sustainable development.

From the " Cleaning house, donating trees " campaign last year with Gaia Nature Conservation Center, helping to green Xuan Lien forest with 1,065 trees planted, nearly 400kg of donated items, to community programs such as joining hands to collect trash, clean Nhat Le beach (Quang Binh), protect the marine ecosystem with the participation of the staff of OCB Quang Binh Branch.

In particular, OCB has been effectively implementing capital mobilization activities in the "green revolution", demonstrating its pioneering role as one of the leading banks in sustainable development strategy.

As of December 31, 2024, green credit at OCB increased by 30% compared to 2023, which is considered a high credit growth rate compared to banks in the whole system.

Accordingly, OCB focuses on prioritizing capital sources, effectively expanding lending to value-added projects, clean energy, high-tech agriculture such as: renewable energy including wind power, solar power, hydropower; green buildings A+; water supply plants and smart agriculture using sustainable farming methods, drip irrigation, water storage/containment...
