South Korean archer Kim Woo Jin won the gold medal in the men's individual archery event at the 2024 Olympics on the evening of August 4th. This means South Korea is the first country in history to win all five gold medals in every archery event at a single Olympic Games. Kim Woo Jin went through a tense final match against his opponent Brady Ellison of the United States. Both archers battled for every point, each hitting three consecutive 10s to tie the score at 5-5. Ultimately, the victory went to the South Korean archer. When Kim Woo Jin's final shot hit the bullseye 55mm from the center, Ellison's hit it 60mm away. The final score was 6-5 in favor of South Korea.

This is veteran archer Kim Woo Jin's third gold medal at the 2024 Olympics. This puts him level with his teammate Lim Si Hyeon. Both won their respective team and mixed team events, and each also has a gold medal in the individual category. Kim Woo Jin also becomes the first archer to win five gold medals at the Olympic Games. With this result, South Korea has swept all five gold medals in archery at the 2024 Olympics: men's and women's individual; men's and women's team; and mixed team. This is a historic achievement that will be difficult for any other team to surpass in the near future.
