On August 26, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held the opening ceremony of an international IELTS standard upgrading training course for English teachers who have met the standards according to the 6-level Vietnamese foreign language proficiency framework.

The training to improve the standard qualifications of English teachers to improve the quality of teaching and learning English in schools in the city has always been of interest to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and implemented in many forms.

In preparation for the new school year 2024-2025, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has sent 1,900 teachers to participate in an international English standard training course under the national foreign language project. These are teachers who have met the standards according to the 6-level Vietnamese foreign language competency framework and are teaching at all levels of general education, vocational education - continuing education. Teachers will participate according to a common schedule, from now until the completion of the course.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that Hanoi currently has the largest educational scale in the country with 2,913 schools with 2.3 million students and nearly 130,000 teachers. This is the first activity before the new school year 2024-2025, demonstrating the determination of the capital's education sector in improving the quality of teaching and learning, including English.

Reviewing the outstanding results of the Hanoi Education sector in the 2023-2024 school year, Mr. Cuong commented that to achieve the goal of training students to become global citizens, the important condition is to improve the quality of the teaching staff.

In recent times, Hanoi has had many solutions to improve the quality of English teaching, including organizing training courses to improve the qualifications of English teachers both domestically and abroad. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training recommends that students raise their sense of responsibility and participate seriously in the course to achieve high efficiency.

Representing the students participating in the course, teacher Hoang Thi My Huong, teacher at Giang Vo Secondary School (Ba Dinh District) said that this is a valuable opportunity for English teachers to improve their professional skills, contributing to creating a generation of students with the best foreign language proficiency.

The new point of this course compared to previous ones is that in addition to the official learning channel with the training program built into the course, students also receive support from members of the 200+ Club, including 254 English teachers who have participated in the advanced training course organized by the city.

This is to concretize the movement "Schools develop together, teachers share responsibility" that is being implemented throughout the industry. Each member of the 200+ Club will support 8 students of the course throughout the training process.
