To avoid being caught 'disguised tutoring' in school

At the first semester review meeting of high school, Mr. Le Duy Tan, Head of the High School Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, noted that high schools need to review the teaching of 2 sessions/day, comparing it with Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training on extra teaching and learning , so as not to be caught "disguised extra teaching" in schools.

Accordingly, Mr. Tan said that before Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training was issued, Ho Chi Minh City had implemented no extra teaching in schools, so the circular did not affect teaching and learning in schools.

However, Mr. Tan emphasized that the school must follow the regulations when teaching 2 sessions/day , otherwise it will be easy to be caught "disguised extra teaching" by teaching 2 sessions/day. Teaching 2 sessions/day must not be cut to carry the connotation of extra teaching and learning, violating Circular 29.

"The school needs to review the school's two-session teaching program. The content of the two-session teaching program needs to closely follow the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, aiming to educate students to integrate internationally...", the head of the department stated.

In addition, when implementing educational activities for the second semester, Mr. Pham Quang Tam, Deputy Head of the Secondary Education Department, said that in this semester, competitions will take place such as: Excellent students of grade 9 at the city level; Olympic competition on April 30 for students of grades 10 and 11; Photography and young chef competition; National science and technology competition; selection exam for students to compete internationally...

According to Mr. Tam, competitions and contests aim to create a playground for students to develop their abilities, discover and nurture talents. In addition to cultural competitions, there are also competitions on aptitude and career orientation for students to express their passion, career, etc.

Therefore, school leaders need to adjust the school education plan to suit the students participating in the team. Prioritize reducing unnecessary content to avoid putting pressure on students in addition to participating in exams and ensuring all activities that the school implements. Schools need to develop separate plans for these students, ensuring that they complete the school's education program.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the 2024-2025 school year, the 2028 General Education Program will be implemented synchronously at the secondary level. Accordingly, all levels of education have effectively implemented innovation in teaching methods, testing and assessment towards promoting learners' capacity and qualities. Schools have synchronously and effectively implemented teaching and learning activities combined directly with teaching the LMS system, interactive digital learning materials, and have paid attention to developing information technology applications for professional activities.

Referring to the implementation of Circular 29 regulating extra teaching and learning, Mr. Quoc emphasized the need for schools to review their educational plans, plans for teaching 2 sessions/day, and plans outside of regular school hours in the second semester. Teaching 2 sessions/day must be implemented in accordance with the instructions. "Circular 29 has many new contents, so it is inevitable that teachers will have concerns. However, schools and teachers need to carefully study the circular to implement it correctly and closely," Mr. Quoc requested.
