Mayor Vinhedo Dario Pacheco said that the bodies of most of the victims – 34 men and 28 women – had been transferred to the Sao Paulo police morgue for identification. The bodies of the pilot and co-pilot had been identified earlier in the day.

Voepass, the regional airline that operated the plane, said that among the victims were four people with dual citizenship, including three Venezuelans and a Portuguese woman.

The Venezuelan passengers included a four-year-old boy, his mother, and his grandmother, according to local news outlet Globo News. The news agency also reported that the boy's dog was on the flight the family was scheduled to take to Colombia.

On Friday, Voepass said the plane was carrying 57 passengers and four crew members, but on Saturday, the airline confirmed that one more passenger was missing from the flight, bringing the total number of casualties to 62.

Authorities are using seating information, physical characteristics, documents, and belongings such as cell phones to identify the victims, firefighter Maycon Cristo said at the accident scene Saturday morning as bodies were pulled from the rubble.

According to authorities, relatives of the victims have been brought to Sao Paulo to provide DNA samples to aid in the identification of the bodies. Meanwhile, the plane's "black box," containing voice recordings and flight data, is being analyzed.

The plane, an ATR-72 turboprop, was en route to Sao Paulo from Cascavel, in the state of Parana, and crashed at approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday in Vinhedo, about 80 kilometers from Sao Paulo. Although it crashed into a residential area, no one on the ground was injured.

The Brazilian Air Force said in a statement that the aircraft was flying normally until 1:21 p.m., then stopped responding to calls and lost radar contact at 1:22 p.m.

The Air Force added that the pilots did not report any emergency or adverse weather conditions. ATR, jointly owned by Airbus and Leonardo, is the primary manufacturer of these propeller-driven aircraft, which can carry between 40 and 70 people.
