Vinhedo Mayor Dario Pacheco said the bodies of most of the victims - 34 men and 28 women - had been taken to the Sao Paulo police morgue for identification. The bodies of the pilot and co-pilot were identified earlier in the day.

Regional airline Voepass, which operated the plane, said four of the victims were dual nationals, including three Venezuelans and a Portuguese woman.

The Venezuelans were a 4-year-old boy, his mother and grandmother, according to local news agency Globo News. The boy's dog was also on the flight the family was later to take to Colombia, the news agency said.

Voepass said on Friday that the plane was carrying 57 passengers and four crew members, but on Saturday it confirmed that one more passenger was missing from the flight, bringing the total number of casualties to 62.

Authorities are using seating information, physical features, documents and belongings such as cellphones to identify victims, firefighter Maycon Cristo said at the crash scene Saturday morning as bodies were pulled from the wreckage.

Relatives of the victims have been brought to Sao Paulo to provide DNA samples to help identify the bodies, while the plane's "black box" containing voice recordings and flight data is being analyzed, authorities said.

The plane, an ATR-72 turboprop, was en route to Sao Paulo from Cascavel, in the state of Parana, and crashed at around 1:30 p.m. Friday in Vinhedo, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Sao Paulo. Although it landed in a residential area, no one on the ground was injured.

The Brazilian Air Force said in a statement that the plane was flying normally until 1:21 p.m., then stopped responding to calls and lost radar contact at 1:22 p.m.

The pilots did not report any emergencies or adverse weather conditions, the Air Force added. ATR, jointly owned by Airbus and Leonardo, is the main manufacturer of the turboprop planes, which can seat 40 to 70 people.
