According to the National Assembly Chairman, the world situation is moving very quickly and changing profoundly. The trend of economic liberalization, trade, investment, international integration, cooperation, and multi-level connectivity continues to develop strongly. The changes and miraculous achievements of digital transformation, innovation, and science and technology open up new conditions and opportunities for humanity, promote development, and contribute to realizing the aspiration to live in peace, prosperity, and happiness.
The 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians held in Hanoi this time is a special occasion for young parliamentarians from countries, regional and international parliamentary organizations to share their visions and valuable practical experiences, further promoting the role, position and voice of young parliamentarians and young people in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through digital transformation, innovation and promoting respect for cultural diversity. Emphasizing this, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that, through the Conference, a network of young parliamentarians around the world will be built and strengthened to join hands in action for a sustainable, peaceful, prosperous, better world where no one is left behind.
The National Assembly Chairman also affirmed that parliamentary diplomacy, the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the IPU Young Parliamentarians Forum have increasingly played a role in promoting the participation of young parliamentarians and young people in general in parliamentary activities in effectively resolving issues of each country, region as well as globally.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that the Vietnamese National Assembly with 124 young deputies, accounting for nearly 25% of the total number of National Assembly deputies, has been and will continue to actively cooperate with the IPU and member parliaments to promote the activities of the IPU in general and turn the results of this Young Parliamentarians' Conference in particular into concrete activities, so that parliamentary diplomacy can continue to promote its noble missions, for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that spring is the most beautiful season of the year, youth is the most beautiful age in life, spring and youth are the embodiment of vibrant, intense vitality and full of faith. President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader of the Vietnamese people, a world cultural celebrity said: “A year begins in spring. A life begins in youth. Youth is the spring of society”. Youth is not only the successor of previous generations, but also the future of each country and nation.
Through that, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue believes that each young parliamentarian from member parliaments, promoting their youth, creativity, enthusiasm and responsibility, will make positive contributions to the success of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.
