As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, Khanh Hoa Club has received a decision from FIFA to ban the registration of new players due to late payment of 26,000 USD to foreign player Mamadou Guirassy.

On August 12, the coastal city team sent a dispatch to VFF and FIFA, explaining the incident, including the April 5 notice to player Mamadou Guirassy requesting to pay the amount of 29,000 USD (about 650 million VND) in early liquidation fee of 3 months' salary, plus 50% of the transfer fee in 3 installments, but did not receive consent.

It should also be added that at that time, objective difficulties arose when the tax authority was forcibly locking the account of Khanh Hoa Sport Joint Stock Company, the parent company of Khanh Hoa Club, from March 15 to June 25, because the old sponsor had tax debts from the 2023 season, causing the team to be unable to pay player Mamadou the amount of 650 million (the deadline given by FIFA was April 16 at the latest).

After the account was reopened on June 25, Khanh Hoa Sport JSC disbursed 3 months' salary equivalent to 19,500 USD to Mamadou, before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on July 2 requested compensation of 26,000 euros (equivalent to 27,900 USD), including 5% interest.

The leader of Khanh Hoa Sport Joint Stock Company explained that the team still owed Mamadou 8,400 USD, but because his visa expired on May 25, the bank could not pay the remaining amount in principle.

It is known that through good faith negotiations, the two sides agreed not to charge 5% interest, quickly extend Mamadou's visa and then immediately transfer him the remaining month's salary worth 6,500 USD.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, General Director of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest State-owned Company Limited, said: "All parties have clearly understood the objective difficulties and are working towards a goodwill solution. Once Mamadou completes the visa extension, the bank will disburse all the remaining money."

At the same time, Mr. Hai affirmed that Khanh Hoa Club will not abandon the first division: "We will definitely not abandon the tournament for any reason. Hopefully, after Khanh Hoa Club's explanation, FIFA will remove the disciplinary penalty of banning player registration."

Despite financial difficulties over the past time, Khanh Hoa football people are trying to mobilize businesses to join hands so that the coastal city football team can participate in the first division in the 2024-2025 season under the direction of the People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province.
