Component Project 1A Tan Van - Nhon Trach (Phase 1), part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, has a total length of 8.22 km. Construction began on September 24, 2022, with a total investment of nearly 7,000 billion VND (Korean ODA capital and domestic counterpart capital), and the My Thuan Project Management Board is the investor.

Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board (under the Ministry of Transport ), said that this project has two construction packages. Of these, the Nhon Trach bridge construction package, over 2,000 meters long, is being built by Kumho E&C (South Korea) and is the largest bridge on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3.
The bridge approach road project, spanning 5.6km, was undertaken by a consortium of contractors including Dongbu Corporation (South Korea) and VNCN E&C Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (Vietnam).
Regarding the project's progress, the Nhon Trach bridge construction package has reached 80% completion and is expected to be finished by April 30, 2025, four months ahead of the signed contract. In September, the first span of the bridge will be joined before connecting the remaining spans in early 2025. The remaining items will be completed to allow traffic to pass during the holidays.
Specifically, the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, totaling 5.6km in length, are scheduled for completion by mid-September 2025 according to the contract. To date, the cumulative progress of the package has reached nearly 37%, and the investor is accelerating the construction schedule as requested.
According to Mr. Thi, the project encountered some difficulties during its implementation, such as a shortage of construction materials and localized land acquisition issues in some areas, but these have now been largely resolved.

Component Project 1A Tan Van - Nhon Trach is approximately 8.22km long, of which 6.3km passes through Dong Nai province and 1.92km through Ho Chi Minh City. The project's starting point intersects with Provincial Road 25B (Nhon Trach district) and its end point intersects with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway in Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City).
In phase 1, the route was constructed on a scale of 20.5-26m wide with 4 lanes, and a traffic speed of 80km/h.
Last June, the Ministry of Transport proposed to the Prime Minister to adjust the road's scale from an 80km/h speed limit to a 100km/h expressway, and to increase the total investment for the project to nearly 9,270 billion VND, an increase of more than 2,300 billion VND compared to the current estimate.
The additional funding will be used to supplement several items, such as: building an additional side of the Nhon Trach bridge similar to the one currently under construction to expand the route; installing an intelligent transportation system (ITS), electronic toll collection (ETC), vehicle weight inspection stations, and other technical solutions...
According to the Ministry of Transport, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach component project 1A was approved for investment in 2016 before determining when other sections of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 would be implemented. Therefore, the project was not designed to expressway standards. Now that the remaining part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project has been invested in and will be operated as an expressway, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach component project 1A needs to be adjusted to ensure consistency across the entire route.

Construction begins on the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3.

The Nhon Trach bridge connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City takes shape after nearly two years of construction.

Construction of the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section of Ring Road 3 is scheduled to begin in Q1 2022.
Component Project 1A of the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section of the Ring Road 3 construction project (Phase 1) is proposed to commence early in Q1/2022.
