On April 15, 1975, the Division Command proposed to Lieutenant General Le Trong Tan and Lieutenant General Le Quang Hoa to let the 325th Division enter the battle. With the Corps' agreement, a new plan to attack Phan Rang was formed. Studying the enemy's reaction over two days, the 3rd Division organized the attack. The 325th Division Command and the Corps realized that the enemy paid great attention to utilizing the power of artillery to support the infantry in holding the defensive positions.

On the night of April 15, the entire force of Division 325 (including the 101st Infantry Regiment, the 18th Infantry Regiment with the 5th Tank and Armor Battalion of the 203rd Brigade attached) deployed to Highway 1, preparing to break through the Phan Rang defense line.

Due to the special terrain of Phan Rang valley, our forces could only deploy forces to attack Phan Rang in one direction, so the enemy relied on high points and favorable terrain to organize into consecutive defensive clusters along Highway 1. When the outer cluster was broken, the enemy retreated and kept the inner cluster as a springboard to bring the forces behind to counterattack and restore the lost positions.

Faced with the enemy's defense, our combat strategy was to organize a strong thrust force, using wheeled vehicles combined with tanks to transport forces, attacking straight along Route 1 to occupy Phan Rang town, then spreading out to the East to occupy Tan Thanh and Ninh Chu ports, tightening the sea route; following Route 11, attacking back to the Northwest to occupy Thanh Son airport, cutting off the air route; continuing to develop to the South of Phan Rang town to block the remaining road routes.

Coordinate with the attacking forces of Division 3 and local forces to quickly encircle, destroy and disintegrate the entire garrison army in Ninh Thuan, liberating the area. To carry out this method of fighting, one of the most important requirements is to act quickly, boldly and unexpectedly.

In the Xuan Loc - Long Khanh campaign, at dawn on April 15, 1975, our troops began shelling Bien Hoa airport. In the Xuan Loc area, the 7th Division and the 341st Division continuously fought with the enemy, defeated the two remaining battalions (43 and 48) of the 18th Division and destroyed a part of the airborne troops.

At the same time, the 6th Division and the 95A Regiment focused on destroying the puppet 52nd Battalion in Dau Giay, capturing 12 artillery pieces and all tanks of the 3rd Armored Battalion. National Highway 1A from Xuan Loc to Bau Ca was cut off, and we completely controlled National Highway 20 from Dau Giay intersection to Tuc Trung.

Meanwhile, at Dong Xoai - the assembly point of the 1st Corps, the Party Committee and the Corps Command met to study, grasp and discuss leadership measures and organize the implementation of the tasks assigned by the Campaign Command to the Corps in the decisive strategic battle to attack Saigon - Gia Dinh.

Also on April 15, 1975, General Vo Nguyen Giap sent a letter to the General Staff's Cipher Department, stating: During the recent days of the urgent campaign, the officers and soldiers of the cipher department have excellently completed their tasks. The battle is currently continuing and the closer it gets to total victory, the more urgent and fierce it becomes. The task of ensuring the accurate and timely secrecy of the content of orders... is of decisive significance to the implementation of the determination to liberate the South.
