This is the main residence of fishermen from the Central region who come to Ba Ria - Vung Tau to make a living. Up to now, the fishing village has existed for more than 100 years.

Phuoc Hai fishing village is not as crowded as Vung Tau, Ho Tram or Long Hai. This place still retains its wildness, peaceful atmosphere and has not been exploited for tourism. Along Tran Hung Dao Street, Dat Do District, visitors will see many oyster shops selling oysters for only 30,000 - 35,000 VND/kg. The oysters with two rough outer shells are processed or removed on the spot by the sellers, revealing the delicious white meat.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, owner of a milk oyster restaurant in Phuoc Hai fishing village, said that tourists come to Phuoc Hai fishing village mainly to eat seafood, mainly oysters, many people even buy dozens of kilos for their families.

“When customers come here to eat and buy oysters, I will show them how to prepare them. The simplest dish is steamed oysters. Customers just need to boil water, put the oysters in, wait exactly 2 minutes, then take them out to enjoy. By doing so, the oysters will be cooked just right, retaining their original freshness,” Ms. Yen shared.

When coming to Phuoc Hai fishing village, visitors will easily see the image of fishermen processing oysters at the counter very professionally, the oysters are first classified and washed carefully. There are many restaurants from large to small, indoors or on the sidewalk, simple but attracting a lot of diners. In the large seafood restaurants, there are also many other types of seafood such as squid, shrimp, octopus, fish and snails...

Oysters can be prepared in a variety of ways, but the most common are steamed or grilled. In particular, steamed milk oysters are extremely popular with diners. The key is the "divine" dipping sauce, which is mixed to taste, not too sour or too sweet, and is extremely "appealing" to eat with fresh oysters.

In addition, the restaurants also cater to customers by selling grilled oysters with scallion oil and grilled oysters with fatty cheese. The sweet, fragrant and fatty meat combined with a variety of cooking methods can satisfy even the most demanding customers. The soft, fragrant, fatty oyster meat melts in your mouth, is carefully processed so there is no fishy smell or seaweed smell, making your taste buds explode.

Ms. Hoang Thi Hue, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City who often travels to Phuoc Hai, said: “Working in Ho Chi Minh City, my family and I often consider places for short-term travel and of course Vung Tau is a destination not to be missed. In particular, every time I come here, I visit Phuoc Hai fishing village because the oysters here are very fresh and delicious, especially the price is very cheap, my family and I can eat comfortably.”

In addition, to separate the beach from the residential area, Phuoc Hai fishing village has built a sea wall and beautifully decorated it. If not swimming, visitors can sit on the sea wall to enjoy the breeze, listen to the murmur of the waves and admire the natural scenery.
