Container truck causes accident, breaks electric pole and shop in Cu Chi district

A container truck was going down Ba Bep bridge (Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City) when it hit the median strip, collided with other vehicles, continued to hit and break an electric pole and an electrical store before stopping.

On the afternoon of August 10, Cu Chi District Police and Cu Chi Electricity staff were still urgently handling and fixing the accident that caused a container truck to break a 22kV medium voltage power line pole and collapse an electrical appliance store in the area.

Earlier, in the early morning of the same day, the driver of a container truck with a license plate from Bac Ninh province was driving on Provincial Road 8 towards Binh Duong province. When the truck reached Hamlet 3 (Binh My Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City), it crashed into dozens of meters of steel median strip in the middle of the road.

Before stopping, the vehicle rushed in the opposite direction, colliding with a truck, causing it to flip over. Then, the container truck broke a 22kV medium voltage power pole and partially collapsed a roadside electrical store.

The incident injured the truck driver.

At the scene, the rolling door and the front facade of the electrical goods store such as columns and brick walls collapsed. The goods inside were damaged.

Upon receiving the news, Cu Chi District Police, Tay Bac Traffic Police Station under the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police and Cu Chi District authorities were present to handle the scene and investigate the cause.

Through security camera footage, at the time of the incident, the container truck had just gone down Ba Bep Bridge when it hit the median strip and repeatedly crashed into other vehicles, electric poles, and roadside shops. The accident caused two motorbikes to fall onto the road. However, the victims and their vehicles only suffered minor scratches and were able to leave afterwards.

Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The owner of the electrical goods store said that if it weren't for the electric pole, the container truck would have crashed into the store. There was no one in the store at the time of the incident. The entire family was sleeping in the house behind the store and escaped unharmed. The estimated damage was over 100 million VND.

At 1:00 p.m. the same day, electricity workers were still troubleshooting and replacing broken power poles.
