Nam Suong village, Muong Te district used to be located along a stream, above the village were high hills.
Located in a particularly difficult area, the already poor life of the villagers became even more difficult when two years ago, cracks appeared along the mountain slope above the village; below the village, landslides and subsidence appeared, running along the stream.
Over time, the cracks grew larger and landslides under the stream became more frequent, causing panic and fear among the people.
Mr. Lo Van Lon, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Nam Suong Village said: "Since the cracks appeared on the mountain, the area along the stream has often suffered landslides and subsidence, the lives of the villagers have not been peaceful, everyone always lives in anxiety, especially during the rainy season. The village is inherently poor and unstable, so people are not confident in doing business, out of 85 households, 43 are poor, the rest are near-poor, the people want most to settle down and make a living...".

People are building houses in their new home. |
Ms. Lo Thi Sang, a villager, excitedly said, “My house used to be right on a dry stream. During the dry season, there was no water, but when it rained, the water rushed down with rocks, which was very dangerous. Every rainy season, my family was so worried that they couldn’t sleep. Many times when it rained heavily, we had to move to another house and didn’t dare sleep in our house. Now that the government has invested in the land, our family has moved up to build a stable house with electricity and water, and the road is big and wide, making it very convenient for traveling.”

Similar to Mrs. Sang, Ms. Lo Thi Anh, while carrying a bucket of mortar for her husband to build a house, bragged that before, the couple built a wooden house near the stream to live in, but since the stream bank collapsed, the house has also deteriorated, and it is very scary to live there... Now, moving to a new site, the couple decided to build a solid house, not a wooden house anymore. The government supported 60 million VND, and we also borrowed more capital from the social policy bank. My husband used to work as a construction worker, so he knows how to build. We asked our brothers and relatives in the village to help. Now, we are almost done with our dream house on the new land. Life is stable, the family will consider doing business, developing the economy...
