During the working sessions, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and the delegation spent a lot of time exchanging experiences on deploying 5G according to the OpenRAN standard. Currently, Japanese mobile network operators have basically deployed 5G OpenRAN. In particular, when deploying 5G OpenRAN, Rakuten mastered the entire cloud-based processing software system and only purchased the radar part, helping to significantly reduce investment costs.

Attending the working sessions, Vietnamese telecommunications enterprises discussed with Japanese mobile network operators the possibility of promoting cooperation in research and development of new technologies, services and products, the possibility of jointly investing in data centers, and providing 5G solutions according to OpenRAN standards in both countries. Vietnamese technology enterprises also shared the results of research and development of 5G equipment in Vietnam, ready to provide to network operators in Japan.

Through working sessions with Ministers of specialized management ministries and senior leaders of Japanese telecommunications corporations, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung's visit opened up cooperation potentials between telecommunications and ICT enterprises of the two countries, creating conditions to promote investment cooperation projects, especially in 5G development according to OpenRAN standards.
