The Norwegian delegation also includes parliamentarians from the foreign affairs and defense, trade and industry, justice, education and research, and health committees, who are visiting and working in Vietnam from January 20-23.
At the reception, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang welcomed the visit of the Norwegian parliamentary delegation with many meetings and exchanges with Vietnamese National Assembly agencies, ministries, branches and localities.
The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Norway, emphasizing that the two sides are moving towards signing a Letter of Intent on establishing a Green Strategic Partnership to strengthen cooperation in green transformation, circular economy, and climate change adaptation.
Regarding maritime economic cooperation, the Deputy Minister asked Norwegian parliamentarians to support Vietnam in removing the European Commission's (EC) IUU yellow card on seafood exported from Vietnam, helping Vietnam to sustainably raise seafood.
Vice Chairman of the Norwegian Parliament's Standing Committee on Culture and Family Affairs Aslaug Sem-Jacobsen expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam and witness the country's achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, affirming the Norwegian Parliament's strong commitment to promoting effective and substantive development of relations with Vietnam.
Ms. Aslaug Sem-Jacobsen said that the purpose of the visit is to learn about the situation and foreign policy of Vietnam, as well as promote the negotiation process of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), of which Norway is a member, towards economic cooperation opportunities between the two sides, especially in areas where Norway has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as green transformation, renewable energy, circular economy, transport infrastructure, and marine economy.

The two sides spent time discussing international and regional issues of mutual concern in Asia-Pacific and Europe, sharing their stance on major challenges facing the world due to the impact of conflicts, disputes, strategic competition between major countries, as well as non-traditional security issues.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam's consistent foreign policy is independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations, being a friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community, for a multipolar and fair world order, peace, stability and development.
The two sides agreed on the need to strengthen coordination in addressing global challenges, strongly supporting the settlement of disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, UNCLOS 1982, contributing to ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation, consolidating peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
