Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of VINASA spoke.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of VINASA, digital technology cooperation between enterprises has also continuously developed rapidly and strongly, contributing to improving the competitiveness of enterprises of the two countries in most of the key economic sectors of the two countries. Vietnam remains the most favorite choice, and the second largest digital transformation partner of Japan. The 11th Vietnam IT Day 2024 was held, clearly and deeply affirming the above relationship with the attention of not only enterprises, large organizations JETRO, JISA, NCNETwork but also the leaders of the two Ministries: Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan. Despite the volatile global economy, businesses facing many challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the devaluation of the yen..., Vietnamese IT businesses are still determined to find ways to overcome difficulties, fully accompanying Japanese partners in digital transformation to improve competitiveness, and still maintaining good revenue growth rate, researching advanced and useful solutions. With the theme "Vietnam - Comprehensive IT partner for Japan's sustainable digital economic development", Vietnam IT Day 2024 conveys 3 messages, which are also the directions of Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the next 5-10 years. First , digital system transformation and AI application : Currently, most technology systems in large Japanese enterprises and corporations in key areas such as finance-banking, retail, energy, logistics, etc. are still using technology systems built more than 2 decades ago. This is putting Japanese enterprises at risk of falling behind their global competitors. The need to modernize systems is huge, however, large systems affect many customers, so modernization requires a lot of resources and caution. Meanwhile, Vietnamese technology enterprises have been building solutions and perfecting digital transformation services to modernize the systems of Japanese agencies and enterprises. Vietnamese enterprises have also researched and deployed AI models to research and apply with their partners to help optimize the system, develop new production models, and improve the competitiveness of Japanese enterprises. Second, digital transformation of production - green transformation : The Vietnamese and Japanese governments are both committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This is a huge challenge for manufacturing enterprises of both countries. Vietnamese technology enterprises are ready with production management solutions, resource optimization, energy, measurement solutions and carbon optimization. This will be the focus of cooperation in the next 10-20 years. The first is the automotive industry. One of the major industries, the focus of development of both Japan and Vietnam. Third, the readiness of human resources and Vietnamese digital technology enterprises for the shift of Japanese partners. Japanese enterprises are clearly shaping the trend of moving to Vietnam in most industries. VINASA Chairman Nguyen Van Khoa commented: “In the field of information technology, Japanese enterprises want to move all levels of work, from upstream to downstream, from research, design to production and testing. Every year, Japan's population decreases by nearly 1 million people, every year Vietnam's population increases by nearly 1 million people. Vietnam's IT industry has 1.5 million workers, 55,000-70,000 IT engineers graduate and enter the labor market every year. Japanese enterprises are looking to Vietnam for this reason." Vietnam already has enterprises with tens of thousands of employees, more than a dozen enterprises with over 1,000-5,000 employees, and hundreds of enterprises with 200-1,000 employees serving the Japanese market.

Mr. Noriya Tarutani, Deputy Director of Innovation Division, JETRO, said.

Sharing this view, Mr. Noriya Tarutani, Deputy Director of JETRO's Innovation Division, said: "Every year, there is a certain amount of direct investment from Japan in Vietnam in the IT sector, and by 2023, there will be 59 investments, equivalent to 20% of the total." In recent years, there have been Japanese startups establishing development bases in Vietnam. Some companies are paying attention to Vietnam's excellent engineers and positioning Vietnam as a research and development base for advanced technologies such as AI. "On the other hand, investment from Vietnam to Japan continues to grow strongly and the IT sector is accounting for the majority of JETRO's consulting activities for Vietnamese companies expanding to Japan," said Mr. Noriya Tarutani.
