On the afternoon of April 16, at the National Convention Center, within the framework of the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Secretary of State of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lina Hansen and representatives of several large Danish enterprises attending the conference in Vietnam from April 15-16, 2025.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit Vietnam for the third time; thanked Denmark for supporting Vietnam in successfully organizing the P4G Conference , contributing to the global common effort to realize green and sustainable growth goals.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the cooperative relationship with Denmark; highly appreciated the establishment of important cooperation frameworks between the two sides such as the Strategic Partnership in the fields of climate change, energy, environment and green growth (2011), Comprehensive Partnership (2013) and Green Strategic Partnership (2023); expanded cooperation between the two countries in the fields of green growth, sustainable development, environment and renewable energy; welcomed Denmark's green investment in Vietnam, which ranks first among the Nordic countries.
Appreciating Denmark as one of the leading countries in sustainable development, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized the need for the two countries to strengthen effective cooperation in this field; suggested that Denmark share experience in building institutions, policies and governance, transferring technology, and helping train human resources.
Mr. Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam's hosting of the P4G Conference aims to mobilize resources from P4G countries and the international community, political support, finance and private investment, including from Denmark, to implement the emission reduction targets committed at the COP26 Conference, and to join the international community in responding to global development challenges.
In order to enhance political trust and create momentum to promote extensive and effective cooperation in the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son suggested that the two sides continue to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels; study the possibility of upgrading bilateral relations; propose that Denmark influence the European Union (EU) parliaments to soon ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); have a voice so that the European Commission (EC) can remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports; encourage Danish businesses to enter the Vietnamese market and thereby enter ASEAN.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that in the context of increasing global trade tensions, Vietnam and Denmark need to take advantage of opportunities and potentials to strengthen cooperation in Denmark's strengths and Vietnam's priorities such as renewable energy, green transformation, infrastructure, blue ocean economy, and circular economy for the common interests of the two countries.
Sharing the opinions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Danish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Lina Hansen stated that Denmark always attaches importance to cooperation with Vietnam, highly appreciates Vietnam's successful hosting of the P4G Summit and is a bright spot in the region in attracting green investment, including Danish investment.
Danish Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Lina Hansen expressed her impression of Vietnam’s efforts to implement sustainable development goals and trade and investment liberalization. With Denmark assuming the rotating EU Presidency from July 2025, Minister of State Lina Hansen affirmed that the two countries have many opportunities to further strengthen cooperation.
Ms. Lina Hansen agreed with the proposals of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on political-diplomatic, economic-trade and investment cooperation; emphasizing the strengthening of existing strategic cooperation in the fields of health, agriculture, food, education, statistics and expanding new cooperation in science-technology, digital transformation, renewable energy, marine economy, green transformation. She pledged that the Danish Government and businesses would continue to invest in Vietnam and support the process of upgrading the bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership.
Representatives of Danish businesses (CIP, Pandora, Carlsberg, Maersk...) present at the meeting expressed confidence in the prospects of cooperation between the two countries, and proposed a number of measures to contribute to making economic-trade and investment cooperation more practical and effective.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son acknowledged and affirmed that Vietnam always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for international enterprises, including Denmark, to operate and expand investment and production in Vietnam.
