According to information at the inauguration ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City international friendship symbol is designed to stand out in the shape of a Mobius circle, the mathematical symbol of infinity. The structure is cast in eternal bronze, evoking the spirit of continuous connection and unceasing development between Ho Chi Minh City and the international community. On the base, the names of 58 international localities that have signed friendship relations with Ho Chi Minh City since 1994 are solemnly engraved, like a circle spreading trust, respect and sincere friendship.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said that the symbol of international friendship of Ho Chi Minh City was built not only to honor the achievements in the city's foreign relations, but also to convey a strong message: Peace is not only the destination, but also the common journey of all of us. Vietnam affirms that it always opens its doors, is ready to share, connect and accompany friends from all over the world to build a better world.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan emphasized that the symbol of international friendship of Ho Chi Minh City is a cultural and diplomatic project with profound meaning, originating from the aspiration to create a space for international friends when they set foot in Ho Chi Minh City. This project is not only an artistic mark in the heart of the city, but also a vivid symbol of the aspiration for integration, for the long-term commitment of Ho Chi Minh City in cultivating friendly relations, cooperation and development with international friends.

Through this symbol, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to send a sincere message: The city is always a reliable companion, a dynamic and creative partner, ready to join hands with the international community for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future.

The Ho Chi Minh City International Friendship Symbol is the result of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Symbol Design Competition organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Tuoi Tre Newspaper. The first prize went to the idea of ​​“Waves of water harmonizing, forming friendship” by architect Bui Minh Chau. After selecting the design, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the City Department of Culture and Sports to coordinate with the Art Council to edit, complete, approve and construct the project, so that it officially becomes a symbol of international exchange.
