The contest is organized by the Ca Mau Provincial Literature and Arts Association, part of a series of activities to summarize 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) according to Plan No. 203-KH/TU dated December 25, 2023 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.
The majors chosen to host the competition are photography, fine arts, music, theater and cinema.
Mr. Trinh Thanh Vu, Chairman of the Literature and Arts Association of Ca Mau province, Head of the Organizing Committee, spoke at the closing ceremony of the contest.
Mr. Trinh Thanh Vu, Chairman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, Head of the Organizing Committee, commented: In the field of music, the authors have chosen a relatively strange approach to topics that seem difficult to find new and more unique sources of inspiration, because previous musicians have been extremely successful, such as the works: Vietnamese Festival Drum (composed by Nguyen Ngoc De), Spring for You (composed by Sy Nham), Song of a Common Foundation (composed by Lu Minh Ngoc)... The tradition of building and defending the country, the spirit of humanity and national pride have been expressed by the authors in a harmonious way in each melody and lyric: "Proud of the two words Vietnam resounding in the international arena. Friends of different skin colors overcome difficulties" (Vietnamese Festival Drum). That is also the heart of Ca Mau artists towards the common joy of the whole nation - the day when North and South reunite as one family, the country connects as one strip.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tien, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ca Mau province and Mr. Trinh Thanh Vu, Chairman of the Literature and Arts Association awarded A prizes to 5 authors in 5 majors: cinema, photography, theater, music and fine arts.
For author Nguyen Thi Thao (Ly Bong Dua), the Da Co Hoai Lang tune has become the luggage - the feelings of a wife seeing off her husband - a soldier who left for a great love. Ly Bong Dua's Tri Am melody is "sad" but not "sad", full of love for the homeland, love for couples, ensuring the ideological nature of the contest theme and the artistic elements of the vọng cổ song genre.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Sang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, awarded the B prize to the authors.
In the field of cinema, the group of authors: Duy Khai, Thanh Phuc and Thao My through the work "The first female cameraman of the Southwest cinema", the main character in the work is the author of the film "Hospital in the mangrove forest" - the first film of the Southwest revolutionary cinema, made in the 60s - Ms. Nguyen Thuy Lieu. Currently, she is nearly 80 years old, living in Nam Can district, Ca Mau province.
Compared to the fields selected for the competition, the photography field has the most works submitted to the competition (64 works). “At present, the photography field has a superior advantage over the remaining fields in participating more and more widely in the propaganda and promotion work in general of Ca Mau province. On the other hand, with the characteristics of the type, photography is also the type that receives more attention from the province compared to the remaining fields of the cultural industry”, Mr. Trinh Thanh Vu emphasized.
In the field of fine arts, most of the materials belonging to the forte of Ca Mau authors are present, from wood carving, oil painting, lacquer to silk, acrylic, iron pen... Besides the works that continue to exploit the theme of the heroic tradition in the revolutionary struggle of the Party, government and people of Ca Mau, there are many works that generalize the urgent, busy atmosphere of a land that is changing in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Mr. Trinh Thanh Vu awarded the C prize to the authors.
Looking at each work in the 5 fields participating in the contest, it can be seen that: Artists of Ca Mau province, with all their hearts for the cause of Vietnam, have devoted their brainchild from their passion to contribute to enriching the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnamese literature and art to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
