(Dan Tri) - The Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board has finalized the operating schedule for the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line after an inspection visit by city leaders.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Vu Hong Truong, Director of Hanoi Metro, said that the company has completed the preparation steps and is ready to operate the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line as soon as the investor hands it over. The tasks that have been implemented include determining ticket prices, developing an operation plan, maintenance, etc.
Open for free for the first 15 days
According to the plan, the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro has completed all acceptance procedures and will open to visitors on August 8. "That is the best news for Hanoi Metro staff in 2024. After nearly 3 years of operating the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line, we are about to receive the capital's second urban railway line," said Mr. Vu Hong Truong. The Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station urban railway lines are the first two pieces in the network of 14 metro lines planned for the capital city of Hanoi (Graphic: Ngoc Tan). According to the Resolution of the City People's Council, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station train will carry passengers for free for the first 15 days. This incentive has also been applied to the Cat Linh - Ha Dong project. After 2 weeks of free operation, Hanoi Metro will officially sell tickets. The ticket price for the entire route from Nhon to Cau Giay is expected to be 12,000 VND; the daily ticket price is 24,000 VND. This price is lower than the Cat Linh - Ha Dong route due to the shorter route length (8.5km compared to 13km). The ticket price may change after the project completes the 4km underground route. For monthly tickets, the price will be equal to the Cat Linh - Ha Dong route, which is 200,000 VND/month for regular passengers and 100,000 VND/month for students. Regarding the train schedule: The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station train is expected to operate from 5:30 am and end at 10:00 pm every day. In the first 3 months, the train frequency is 10 minutes/trip. After 3 months, the frequency can be increased to 6 minutes/trip during rush hour. The free, discount, insurance policies... for each customer group will be maintained similar to the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line. In the past time, Hanoi Metro has simultaneously implemented 7 tasks including (1) building a system to receive the project; (2) recruiting and training personnel; (3) trial operation; (4) reviewing maintenance and operation procedures; (5) coordinating system safety assessment; (6) developing an operation plan; (7) developing temporary unit prices and fare policies. Up to now, 7 groups of tasks have been implemented on schedule. The train drivers of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line are ready to serve passengers (Photo: Ngoc Tan). "We approached the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station project early. All the experience and lessons learned from nearly 3 years of operating the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line were applied by us when receiving and operating this line," shared the leader of Hanoi Metro.
Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Metro may be more crowded than Cat Linh - Ha Dong
The milestone of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line's opening also marks the end of the "lonely" days of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line. The complementarity between the two metro lines is expected to promote the habit of using public transport among the capital's residents. Regarding the route, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station and Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro lines will connect at Cat Linh. Hanoi has a plan to build a pedestrian tunnel across Hao Nam Street so that passengers from Cat Linh Station can go to the S10 underground station. Unfortunately, the underground section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line has not been completed. In the near future, the city will connect these two metro lines by public buses and bicycles. "The technology of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line is more modern, the ability to attract passengers will be equal to, or even better than, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line because it passes through many universities," said Mr. Vu Hong Truong. Mr. Pham Cong Linh, Head of the train dispatch center of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line, was assigned to work on the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line (Photo: Ngoc Tan). Recently, the best staff of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line have been mobilized to reinforce the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line. The staff for this line is 524 people, including managers, train drivers, and service staff. The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line also has a group of train drivers who have been waiting "tired" for many years because the project is behind schedule. However, in the past 3 years, this group has had less trouble because they have been assigned temporary jobs on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line.
