
Attending the MOU signing ceremony, in addition to representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the State Securities Commission of the two countries, there were also representatives of the diplomatic agencies of the two countries: Mr. Nguyen Dang Thang, Consul General - Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney and Ms. Arabella Bennett - Second Secretary, Embassy of Australia in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of ASIC highly appreciated the cooperative relationship with the State Securities Commission of Vietnam and said that it was an honor to celebrate an important milestone in the cooperation between the two agencies by signing the first bilateral memorandum of understanding between ASIC and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam. This is also a testament to the very strong relationship between the two parties, as well as the common direction of the two agencies in promoting the cooperative relationship and promoting the development of the capital markets of the two countries.
ASIC Chairman Joseph Longo said that this MOU will create a basis for the two agencies to establish a formal information sharing mechanism, enhance technical cooperation related to the management and supervision of the securities markets of the two countries, as well as exchange and share best practices and promote investor protection activities. At the same time, he affirmed that the MOU is ASIC's commitment to capacity building support activities and support the prosperous economic growth of Vietnam. ASIC will continue its capacity building support programs for the SSC, always ready to provide activities including technical assistance, training activities and strengthening the management infrastructure system of Vietnam.

The ASIC Chairman was also pleased to witness Vietnam's recent progress as it emerged as a dynamic and resilient economy in the region and is confident that Vietnam's capital market will continue to grow and develop strongly.
“The signing of the MOU marks the beginning of a new chapter in our partnership and reflects our shared vision of developing vibrant capital markets governed by strong and effective regulatory frameworks,” the ASIC Chairman added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairwoman of the State Securities Commission Vu Thi Chan Phuong shared that the Vietnamese stock market is increasingly affirming itself as an important medium and long-term capital channel for the business community and the economy; an attractive investment channel for domestic and foreign investors, including investors from Australia.
The Chairman of the SSC said that in the process of building and developing the stock market, the SSC has received valuable support from the Australian Government, including providing funding for the Joint Capital Market Development Program (J-CAP) of the World Bank to support Vietnam in its efforts to remove criteria and propose solutions to upgrade the stock market and training activities, capacity building, and delegation exchanges from ASIC for the SSC Vietnam.
“The Memorandum of Understanding between ASIC and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam signed today is a clear demonstration of the good cooperative relationship, promoting more effective and practical cooperation between the two securities regulatory agencies in particular, and between the two countries in general, to contribute to implementing the major directions in the Joint Statement on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia,” the Chairman of the State Securities Commission affirmed.
