Leaders of Vu Thu District Youth Union presented gifts to patients in difficult circumstances being treated at Vu Thu General Hospital.
The family of Mr. Vu Duy Thoan, Bong Dien Nam village, Tan Lap commune is a near-poor household with extremely difficult circumstances in the locality. Mr. Thoan's wife has stage 3 kidney failure and has to undergo dialysis 3 times a week. Mr. Thoan himself is in poor health but still tries to work to earn money to pay for his wife's medical treatment and to raise his children.
Mr. Thoan confided: My family used to live in a 24m2 level 4 house. Because the house was seriously degraded, every time there was a storm, the whole family had to move to my brother's house to stay for safety. With the joint help of all levels, sectors, especially the Vu Thu District Youth Union and Tan Lap Commune Youth Union, along with philanthropists, the family was able to build a new house of 40m2. This has been the long-standing wish of the whole family and is a valuable source of encouragement for our family to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
Mr. Tran Tien Tung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Tan Lap commune, said: In the past time, the Youth Union of Tan Lap commune has mobilized and connected with benefactors to support the construction of solidarity houses for 2 households in especially difficult circumstances; maintained the donation of rice and cash to 5 "volunteer green addresses"; regularly gave gifts to families in difficult circumstances, cases of sudden difficulties, and families of meritorious people in the area; organized the placement of danger warning signs in ponds and lakes in the whole commune; organized many exciting cultural, artistic and sports activities to create a strong spread in the community.
With the spirit of "Wherever there is a need, there are youth, wherever there is difficulty, there are youth", in recent times, the Youth Union at all levels of Vu Thu district has had many practical activities towards the community, typically the model of "volunteer green address".
According to Ms. Phan Thi Ngan Phuong, Secretary of the District Youth Union: The model has been deployed since the beginning of 2019, up to now, in the district, there have been 259 "volunteer green addresses" undertaken by the youth union organizations. These are people in especially difficult circumstances such as: the elderly, single people, people with serious illnesses, poor students overcoming difficulties... Depending on the specific conditions and circumstances, the youth union organizations have different supports such as: rice support, electricity and water bills, school supplies or money... Accompanying the "volunteer green addresses", Vu Thu District Youth Union has coordinated with the district's Youth Startup Club to implement the program "clean water for the poor", providing free drinking water every month for 300 households in difficult circumstances in 30 communes and towns. In addition to monthly support, many families in especially difficult circumstances have been called upon by the youth union to mobilize resources to build charity houses.
In 2024, the District Youth Union called for and connected resources to support localities severely affected by storms and floods; coordinated with the District Red Cross to organize a "Zero-VND Market" for poor households and people in difficult circumstances affected by storms and floods and presented 655 gifts worth nearly 70 million VND. The District Youth Union Standing Committee also coordinated with organizations to visit and present gifts to households and students in difficult circumstances affected by storms and floods, contributing to sharing losses and damages with people with a total value of 200 million VND.
The youth road in Phu Xuan residential area, Thanh Ban 2 village, Xuan Hoa commune (Vu Thu) was upgraded by the village's youth union members mobilizing resources.
Also in 2024, Vu Thu District Youth Union coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to present 5 livelihood cows to poor households. In addition, the district's youth union chapters have carried out hundreds of projects and youth work at all levels, actively contributing to the construction of new rural areas in localities. Since the beginning of the year, responding to the peak emulation campaign "300 days of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the province launched by the Provincial People's Committee, the district's youth union chapters have promoted the role of youth in calling for socialized resources, supporting working days to support people in dismantling, building new houses, and repairing houses for families in difficult circumstances. Recently, the District Youth Union has mobilized more than 50 gifts, each worth from 300,000 - 500,000 VND to give to households in especially difficult circumstances during Youth Month 2025.
Ms. Hoang Anh Hung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Vu Thu General Hospital, said: During the Youth Month of 2025, the Youth Union organized many practical activities for the community such as organizing free health check-ups and consultations for people in some localities in the district, supporting some cases with difficult circumstances being treated at the hospital. In addition, we also coordinated with the District Youth Union to organize health check-ups and consultations for people with disabilities, and give gifts to people with disabilities in the district.
In the coming time, the Youth Union at all levels in the district will continue to promote volunteer activities for the community, arousing the spirit of dedication, enthusiasm and training of young people to contribute to building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.
