Binh Gia District Medical Center currently has 5 functional rooms, 10 clinical and paraclinical departments with 135 medical staff. On average, each year, the center receives more than 38,000 patients for examination and treatment. Previously, at the payment area, patients and their relatives had to stand in line waiting for their turn to pay hospital fees in cash. Now, thanks to QR code payment, the hospital fee payment area is more open, people do not have to wait long when making payments.
Ms. Ly Thi Huong, Thien Hoa commune said: Before, when I went to the center for a medical examination, I often had to bring documents and cash, but now I just need to bring my smartphone with a banking application installed to the counter and scan the QR code to be able to pay, very fast and safe, limiting the risks that arise compared to paying in cash. Even if my family member goes to the hospital for a medical examination, even if I am not present at the hospital, I can still help pay the hospital fees for my family member, so I find it very convenient.
Cashless payment brings convenience to people, helps simplify administrative procedures, and makes it easier for hospitals to control revenue. Mr. Bui Huynh Dinh, Director of the District Health Center, said: We have proactively implemented propaganda work to raise people's awareness of cashless payment of hospital fees; directed medical staff in departments and rooms to actively guide people on electronic payment operations... At the same time, closely coordinate with commercial banks to implement cashless payment of hospital fees, creating favorable conditions for people to use this method, thereby giving people more options for quick and accurate payment, increasing publicity and transparency in the process of medical examination and treatment and improving the quality of medical services at the unit.
Accordingly, the center's medical staff actively promoted the benefits of cashless payments to patients and their families, and provided instructions on how to scan codes, transfer payments, etc. for patients and their families, especially the elderly; the hospital also arranged 10 QR codes at the fee collection counter, departments, and rooms to facilitate people when making electronic payments; departments and rooms regularly review and assess risks as well as deploy security measures to ensure the safety of patients and their families when making payments.
With the effective implementation of the above solutions, the rate of cashless payment of hospital fees at Binh Gia District Medical Center is increasing day by day. In 2024, the rate of cashless payment of hospital fees was 85.4% (the highest in the province, 12% higher than the provincial average), and in the first 3 months of 2025, it was nearly 98%.
Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the District Health Center will continue to strengthen propaganda work, encourage people to change their habit of using cash, guide people to pay hospital fees by scanning codes and transferring money when coming to see a doctor or receiving treatment; equip more QR codes in departments and rooms; ensure payment infrastructure, software equipment, smooth services... aiming to increase this rate to 100%, thereby contributing to the digital transformation of the province's health sector.
