After nearly 2 years of silence, Truc Nhan has just returned to the Vietnamese music scene with a heavily invested MV. It is easy to see that the way Khong ra gi was made, released and received, also partly reflects Truc Nhan's 12-year career journey - an entertainer who often has quiet periods, then returns with heavily invested MVs, carefully crafted in terms of image.
Tri Thuc - Znews met with Truc Nhan one evening, a few days after the press conference to launch the MV. Before starting the conversation, Truc Nhan asked for permission to rest for 15 minutes.
"I haven't slept for several days in a row so I'm a bit tired," the singer explained.
'I work regardless of hours'
- It's quite surprising that you scheduled the interview in the evening. Is there a reason behind it?
- Nothing special. Personally, I don't have a time division when working. When I'm done, I just stop. I stopped caring about time a long time ago.
- Doing so much, aren't you afraid of running out of creativity?
- I can be creative at any time, any hour. Even if I have tried to be creative all day and still haven't finished the work, I have to continue at night.
In one day, I can do music, special effects, and visuals at the same time, and everything will still be on track and according to my wishes.
- 'Nothing' marks your return after two years of silence. The MV was invested heavily, but the music was criticized for lacking originality and not surprising enough for listeners. What do you think?
- When choosing songs to invest in, I have to love them first. Whether they are successful or not is also a matter of luck.
Actually, when Vietnamese artists create a product, they all hope their song will be a hit. Whether it will be successful or not is another story.
For me, the most important thing is that the product must be 100% similar to what I had in mind. If the finished product is not the same, I will do it again and again until it is exactly what I had in mind.
What I am not satisfied with, I dare not show it to the audience. Maybe that is why people love my products.

Truc Nhan has just returned to the Vpop race after 2 years of silence. |
- Does that mean you are satisfied?
- This project is the product of a team of hundreds of people, not just me. The images I bring to the MV are almost always "crazy". When the audience watches my products, they will be surprised and happy.
But if that investment fails, you can only blame yourself. Learning anything requires tuition.
'I wanted to retire because I lost my voice'
- So far, what is the biggest 'tuition fee' for you?
- Health. Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done was to sacrifice my health for work. But there was really no other way.
- What event made you realize that?
- During the Covid-19 pandemic, I had sinusitis, very bad. Every day I woke up, I felt a headache and tired all over.
During that time, I was terribly depressed. During vocal training, I couldn’t hit high notes. That was the time when my confidence was at its lowest. Before going to sleep, I often thought about retiring. Now when I think back, I still can’t forget that moment.
- If you can't sing anymore, what will you do next?
- I'll probably work as a MV scriptwriter. Because I find myself coming up with creative ideas that no one else has. I can also learn more about directing, then work as an assistant for Uncle Thu (director Dinh Ha Uyen Thu) (Laughs).
- And then…?
- The time of my health incident happened during the Covid epidemic. Everything was postponed, I also had time to take care of my health. I don't know how, but somehow I got better slowly. I practiced yoga and took medicine. Gradually, everything got better.
One day, I was able to sing high notes. I cried with joy knowing that I had overcome the most difficult period of my life.
- But you haven't sung much lately? Is it because you don't have any shows or what?
- Actually, I perform abroad and have private events a lot. Fans often "protest" because I never post my performance schedule. But I usually perform in places where the audience is not allowed. But for about half a year now, to focus on making MVs, I haven't performed much anymore.

- At the same time you released the MV, HIEUTHUHAI was dominating the top 1 trending. Does competing with a top entertainment star today make you worried?
- Whenever an artist releases a new product, there's always someone at the top of the trending list, so I'm not afraid.
I'm not under pressure, I'm just happy. I admire you guys so much. I feel like music is changing dramatically these days. In such a vibrant market, if my products still resonate and have a place, then I can prove that I have my own color and real ability.
- The Vietnamese music market in recent years has seen the rise and dominance of talented Gen Z artists. Have you ever faced the fear of being left behind?
- The next generation has youth and many new things, but I have a lot of experience. Everything has its price.
This is my 12th year in the profession, having gone through probably 3 generations of artists, the music cycle has never stopped. Artists today are truly multi-talented, they can make music, compose, and sing. You can say that you have a 'full combo' in the music field. As for me, how should I say it, I have a 'full combo' in the MV field (Laughs).
Just kidding. I think God doesn't give you everything. You should use what you're given. As for other things, I trust my teammates.
'I'm only close to Miu Le'
- You're quite "low-key" but on the day of the MV press conference, many colleagues came to support you. How do you stay connected with them?
- Normally, I don't hang out with anyone. But when I called to invite them to the press conference, everyone was ready to attend. That really surprised me. On the day the MV was released, probably almost half of the showbiz was present, with most generations of artists. Everyone stood up and applauded for a long time when the MV ended. I was very proud, and felt that many colleagues were putting their trust in me.
- But there are also many people who were close to you before but are no longer around. After everything, how are you and them?
- I think everyone has to grow up. As people grow older, everything changes. Anything that changes in your life, anyone who comes and goes, is all arranged by God. You have to accept it, so that the changes in life do not shock or break you too much.
- What limits make you realize it's time to leave a relationship?
- My friends who don't play with me anymore are usually because they've changed their living environment. When you move to a new environment, you have to adapt. You're not the same as before, so it's hard to get close to old friends. But everyone will eventually make new friends. Every environment has people who support you, I believe that.

"I live very instinctively. Whatever I think, whatever I want, I will say, whatever reaction I like, I will express immediately," Truc Nhan said. |
- So in showbiz, who are you closest to?
- Miu Le. In showbiz, I confide in each person in a different way, but I find Miu Le extremely compatible. Whenever we meet, we are all excited. Being able to find a close friend in life is already very lucky, you don't need a group of too many people.
- Reason?
- I live very instinctively. Whatever I think, whatever I want, I will say immediately, whatever reaction I like, I will show it right away. But that is only when I am with close friends and family. With strangers, I am very reserved.
I'm not hot-tempered. My nature is to tease, to tease, to tease, so those who don't understand me will probably... (Laughs). Those who are my friends will know that I'm just joking.
If anyone feels our energies are not compatible, I won't force them to stay with me.
