Teachers and students pilot "AI assistant"
As a teacher who has been trained in the AI application program in preschool education, Ms. Bui Thi Thuy, a teacher at Quoc Oai Kindergarten, Hanoi, shared her practical experience in using AI technology in teaching: “I was very surprised by the intelligence and convenience of AI when this technology allows me to do things that seemed difficult before. With the support of AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Chatbox... I can easily refer to ideas, build scenarios and create content suitable for each lesson”.
In Hanoi, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School is one of five pilot schools applying AI in teaching. Smart classrooms are designed with learners at the center, tables and chairs are arranged for group study and interactive content with technology such as virtual reality with 3D virtual reality technology to create excitement for students.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, Principal of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School, said that the application of information technology and AI in teaching has brought many benefits. In smart schools, smart classrooms are connected to smart digital libraries that allow students to review their lectures right after finishing using devices such as tablets, PC mobile phones. In particular, AI technology supports personalized recommendations for each student based on facial recognition, helping them to easily use the library without a card.
However, in reality, many schools still face many difficulties when applying AI technology in teaching and learning. Specifically, most teachers are not equipped with knowledge and experience in AI; facilities are not synchronized and modern, poor network connection leads to limitations when showing videos, using high-configuration software; students do not have devices to access and use software...
Ms. Luong Thi Ngoc Lan - Principal of Thai Son Kindergarten, Bao Lam District, Cao Bang Province also said that some teachers of the school when applying AI technology in teaching, still encounter technical difficulties in using new technology to achieve optimal efficiency. Along with that, due to the mountainous locality, the school still has some schools without electricity and television for teaching and learning activities.
Ethical and legal education for safe and responsible use of AI
Sharing about the application of AI in teaching support, Dr. Tran Viet Hung, founder and Chairman of Got It, Inc., a Silicon Valley technology startup; founder of the STEAM for Vietnam organization, affirmed that GenAI (Generative AI, is a type of artificial intelligence that can create many data formats such as images, videos, sounds, text and 3D models - PV) can help teachers unlock their potential. Specifically, teachers can be supported by GenAI in coming up with ideas; planning detailed lessons; grading and giving detailed comments for each student; assisting and tutoring students, translating content into other languages; creating rich and personalized teaching content.
Affirming that teaching can be improved thanks to artificial intelligence, Dr. Bui Quoc Trung, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, recommended that Vietnam prepare to move towards individualizing education from primary to high school and improving the effectiveness of university and postgraduate training through data analysis. With the trend of online and lifelong learning, Dr. Bui Quoc Trung recommended promoting online learning activities along with the application of big data analysis techniques to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
Regarding the overview of AI and AI applications in education and training, Professor Ho Tu Bao - Director of the Data Science Laboratory of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Scientific Director of the BKAI Center mentioned GenAI, ChatGPT noted that when integrating GenAI into education, we must think more carefully about the meaning of what kind of people learners will become in a digital world. At the same time, it is necessary to thoroughly understand the potential of GenAI in education and clearly define the boundaries of AI in education.
According to Mr. Ta Ngoc Tri - Deputy Director of the Department of General Education, Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued Circular No. 02/2025/TT-BGDDT dated January 24, 2025 regulating the Digital Competency Framework for learners, so that all levels of education in the training process must review and promptly supplement in the context of rapid digital transformation development. Accordingly, each teacher must be the one to decide and debate the reliability of AI, helping students to both exploit the good things and form comprehensively developed people, including problem-solving skills, thinking and critical thinking skills, not relying on AI, technology...
