Accordingly, the American travel magazine Travel & Leisure has just released a list of the 10 most affordable cities in Asia. The voting criteria were considered by Travel & Leisure based on searches on the online travel platform Kayak from January to June about the demand for Asian travel in the second half of this year.

Results are based on average total costs (price of 1 round-trip economy class airfare and 1 night stay in a standard double hotel room) of cities across Asia.

From the results, Ho Chi Minh City ranked 2nd on the list with an average total cost (for 1 round-trip air ticket from the US and 1 night at a hotel) of 1,452 USD (about 36.7 million VND).

Besides Ho Chi Minh City, the capital Hanoi also ranked 9th on the list with an average total cost of 1,546 USD (about 39 million VND).

Experts from Travel & Leisure say that direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco help save tourists significantly on costs (round-trip fares are around 660 USD).

In addition, food and accommodation prices are also very affordable, making Ho Chi Minh City an ideal destination for those on a budget.

According to Travel&Leisure's list, the cheapest city in Asia is Taipei (Taiwan, China).

Japan also has two cities in the Top 10, Tokyo and Osaka (ranked 7th and 10th respectively). India's New Delhi is in 4th place.

In Southeast Asia, Jakarta (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand), Manila (Philippines), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) are ranked 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th respectively.

Previously, digital travel platform Agoda announced 8 Asian destinations that are popular with tourists for long and leisurely trips. Ho Chi Minh City ranked 7th on this list.
