At the ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee honored and presented certificates of merit to 474 students and 95 teachers who achieved outstanding results in the past school year.
The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City awarded certificates of merit to two students, Nguyen Le Quoc Bao and Le Tuan Hy, both from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, for winning second prize in the international science and technology competition in the United States; 186 students won national prizes and 286 students won first prize at the city level in the 2023-2024 school year.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also awarded certificates of merit to 27 teachers who won first prize in the city-level excellent teacher competition; and 68 teachers who directly trained students who achieved excellent student status in the national excellent student competition in the 2023-2024 school year.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also simultaneously awarded certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training to 111 students from Ho Chi Minh City who won national and international awards.
These include eight students who won first, second, and third prizes in the national high school science and technology competition in the 2023-2024 school year, and 103 students who won first, second, and third prizes in the national excellent student competition in the 2023-2024 school year.
Last academic year, Ho Chi Minh City achieved outstanding results in the national excellent student competition with 167 students participating and 110 students winning awards, a rate of 65.87%, breaking away from 12th place in the overall ranking of provinces and cities for the 2022-2023 academic year, climbing more than 10 places to secure 2nd place nationwide.
The results of the 2023-2024 National High School Excellent Student Selection Exam show that 110 out of 167 participating students won prizes (4 first prizes, 19 second prizes, 39 third prizes, and 48 consolation prizes. Among the 4 first prize winners, one student achieved the top score in English).
Reporting at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training - stated that Ho Chi Minh City students achieved outstanding results in the past academic year, ranking highly nationwide, primarily due to their own continuous efforts to overcome difficulties and surpass their own limitations; their passion and creativity in learning.
In addition, the competitions for outstanding students at all levels were organized creatively, seriously, objectively, and in accordance with regulations, creating a vibrant atmosphere of academic competition in schools; teachers diligently nurtured students, and students actively studied and achieved encouraging results.
And the close and effective coordination between the Department of Education and Training and the city's Associations for the Promotion of Learning at all levels in promoting learning and talent, building models of learning families, learning communities, and learning citizens.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, expressed her delight at the achievements of teachers and students in the education sector during the past academic year.
Ms. Le stated that city leaders will continue to pay close attention, provide thorough guidance, and create all favorable conditions for the development of education and training; from studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, building and promoting the positive aspects of the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space, continuing to effectively implement the Happy School model, carrying out key emulation movements of the education sector, to providing comprehensive education for students.
For students, city leaders hope that in addition to striving to study cultural, scientific, and technical subjects, they will also enhance their life skills, cultivate and refine their moral character to gradually improve themselves, and nurture ambitions and aspirations to contribute to their homeland and country.
To the teachers who are considered excellent educators, Ms. Le suggested that they continue to strive, share their experiences with colleagues, and inspire future generations of teachers to love their profession and wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to the cause of education.
