Ho Chi Minh City honors more than 560 excellent students and teachers

At the ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee honored and awarded certificates of merit to 474 students and 95 teachers who achieved excellent results in the past school year.

The City People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to two students Nguyen Le Quoc Bao and Le Tuan Hy, both students of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, who won second prize at the international science and technology competition in the United States; 186 students won national prizes and 286 students won first prize in the city in the 2023-2024 school year.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also awarded certificates of merit to 27 teachers who won first prize for excellent teachers at the city level; 68 teachers who directly trained students who achieved excellent results in the national excellent student exam for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also awarded certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training to 111 Ho Chi Minh City students who won national and international prizes.

These are eight students who won first, second, and third prizes in the national high school science and technology competition for the 2023-2024 school year and 103 students who won first, second, and third prizes in the national excellent student competition for the 2023-2024 school year.

Last school year, Ho Chi Minh City had outstanding results in the national excellent student exam with 167 students taking the exam and 110 students winning prizes, a rate of 65.87%, breaking out of 12th place on the overall ranking of results of provinces and cities in the 2022-2023 school year, jumping more than 10 places, winning 2nd place nationwide.

The results of the national high school student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year showed that 110/167 students participating in the exam won prizes (4 first prizes, 19 second prizes, 39 third prizes and 48 consolation prizes. Of the 4 first prizes, 1 student was the valedictorian in English).

Reporting at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training - said that Ho Chi Minh City students achieved outstanding achievements in the past school year, ranking high in the country, primarily because the students themselves have constantly strived to overcome difficulties, surpass themselves; and are passionate and creative in learning.

In addition, competitions for excellent students at all levels are organized creatively, seriously, objectively, and in accordance with regulations, creating a vibrant competitive learning atmosphere in schools; teachers diligently train, students actively study and achieve encouraging results.

And the close and effective coordination between the Department of Education and Training and the City's Association for the Promotion of Education at all levels in the work of promoting education, promoting talents, building models of learning families, learning communities and models of learning citizens.

Hope students nurture ambitions and aspirations to contribute to their homeland and country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council - was pleased with the results that teachers and students in the education sector have achieved in the past school year.

Ms. Le said that the city's leaders will continue to pay attention, closely direct and create all favorable conditions for the development of education and training; from studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, building and promoting the positivity of Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space, continuing to effectively implement the Happy School model, implementing important emulation movements of the education sector to comprehensively educating students.

For students, the city leaders hope that in addition to making efforts to study and learn cultural and technical subjects, they need to enhance their life skills, cultivate and practice ethics to gradually improve themselves, while nurturing their ambitions and aspirations to contribute to their homeland and country.

As good teachers, Ms. Le suggested that teachers continue to strive, share experiences with colleagues, and inspire generations of teachers to love their profession more and devote themselves to the cause of education.
