According to a statement published on the website of the Iranian President's Office, regarding the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the parties to the 2015 nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Mr. Pezeshkian stressed the existence of trust and the protection of bilateral interests as the basis for an agreement.
If both sides fulfill their commitments and help build mutual trust, other bilateral issues can be discussed in addition to restoring the nuclear deal, he added.
The Iranian leader stressed the need to establish a multilateral world order, saying that US policies and pressure on countries like Iran, as well as attempts to deprive these countries of their rights and interests, are preventing the establishment of a new world order, restoring stability and peace.
Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Mr. Pezeshkian noted that, through the implementation of double standards, the US and some Western countries have assisted Israel in carrying out attacks on the coastal lands of Palestine and West Asian countries, further damaging peace and security in the region and the world.
For his part, President of the European Council Michel expressed his desire to resume nuclear negotiations, hoping for the start of effective interaction between the European Union (EU) and Iran based on protecting common interests and removing obstacles to expanding bilateral cooperation.
He also expressed European countries' interest in improving relations with Iran.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, Mr. Michel called for compliance with humanitarian rights, stopping attacks on this land, achieving a ceasefire, ensuring widespread aid to the people of this area, as well as recognizing Palestine as an independent state.
