Dove Fund (USA) supports eye care for more than 10,000 students in Thua Thien Hue province

The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province has just issued Decision No. 2130/QD-UBND dated August 8, 2024 approving the receipt of a non-refundable aid of more than VND 485 million from the Dove Fund (USA) to support eye care for more than 10,000 students in Huong Tra town.

The grant, funded by the Dove Fund (USA), will support capacity building for grassroots health workers in the field of eye care and detection of eye diseases and refractive errors for more than 10,000 students in 24 primary and secondary schools in Huong Tra town (Thua Thien Hue province).

In addition, we also provided eyeglasses for 600 local students with refractive errors; Distributed medical equipment for eye examinations including: Head-mounted magnifying glasses, Snellen type vision test board, eye-patch glasses for vision test, eye-sticks for vision board and Heine mini 3000 standard eye examination flashlight.

Also through this program, it aims to enhance the capacity of primary health care workers in the field of eye care so that they can provide better services to the local community, especially high school and secondary school students in Huong Tra town.

Dove Fund is a non-governmental organization established in the US, always helping students, poor students, and people with disabilities. In Vietnam, Dove Fund has helped build many kindergartens, primary schools, clean water distribution centers, computer centers, libraries, schools for the blind and awarded many scholarships to poor students,...

Since 2000, the Dove Foundation has raised over $2.5 million, 100% of which has gone to its projects in Vietnam. The Foundation has also built over 44 schools, implemented an Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and provided microfinance programs for poor women, supported tuition for over 500 children, purchased computers, industrial sewing machines and equipment for many of the schools they have built, etc.
