This afternoon (August 12), the Central Steering Committee for the celebration of major holidays and important historical events of the country in the 3 years of 2023-2025 worked with Ho Chi Minh City on preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Attending the meeting were: Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong, Head of the Steering Committee; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia - Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien - Deputy Head of the Steering Committee. Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong - Head of the Steering Committee - emphasized that in the 3 years of 2023-2025, the country will have many major holidays and many important historical events. There are 7 major events in 2024. 5 events have just been completed. The remaining 2 events are the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), and the National Defense Day. Currently, the Ministry of National Defense, the Central Military Commission and Hanoi City are urgently preparing.

Also according to Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Luong Cuong, in 2025, according to the conclusion of the Secretariat, there will be 5 major events. These include the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025); the 135th birthday of beloved President Ho Chi Minh; the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day, and the 20th anniversary of the National Security Day; the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In order to proactively prepare conditions for the successful organization of important events of the country, the Standing Secretary of the Secretariat requested delegates to raise difficulties and obstacles, and propose solutions to remove difficulties and shortcomings. At the meeting, reporting on the preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that the city has issued directives and documents directing the preparation of activities towards the celebration. Up to now, activities and emulation movements towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification have been synchronously deployed. According to Mr. Phan Van Mai, gratitude activities have received great attention, directing the entire political system together with the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to review and implement policies. Determined not to miss any cases that are entitled to policies. In particular, the parade and march during the celebration includes 34 groups of the Public Security and National Defense. The parade has 11 groups. Mr. Phan Van Mai said that the total number of people participating in the parade and march is 11,220 people. Along with that is the organization of cultural, artistic and sports activities; Launch patriotic emulation movements at all levels and sectors to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South in conjunction with implementing planning targets.
