According to the Korea Herald, Seungri - a former member of Kpop group Big Bang - continues to face harsh criticism as he engages in controversial activities, following his involvement in the infamous "Burning Sun scandal".
Despite serving a prison sentence, Seungri's recent actions have sparked public outrage, with many questioning his lack of remorse.
The controversy erupted when international event organizer TVS Management announced that Seungri would appear as a special guest at a nightclub event called "Burning Sun Surabaya" in Surabaya (Indonesia) on August 31.
The announcement, shared on TVS Management's social media account, with the promotional poster titled "Kpop Night Party", immediately sparked backlash.

K-pop fans have been quick to condemn Seungri's attendance at an event named after the nightclub at the heart of the scandal that led to his downfall.
“It’s absurd that someone who was kicked out of the entertainment industry because of the Burning Sun scandal is now attending an event named after the same club. This clearly shows that Seungri has no remorse for his past crimes. He is bringing shame to our country,” said Moon Jeong Ho, a 34-year-old K-pop fan.
Seungri left Big Bang, left YG Entertainment and announced his retirement in 2019, after being revealed as the central figure in the “Burning Sun scandal”. The scandal rocked the K-pop industry, involving allegations of prostitution, embezzlement and other serious crimes.
In 2022, the court upheld Seungri's 1 year and 6 month prison sentence on 9 charges, including illegal filming, embezzlement, habitual gambling, and inciting special violence.

After his release from prison, Seungri continued to engage in controversial behavior despite his tarnished image. He continued to frequent nightclubs, flirt with girls, and openly sing Big Bang songs despite leaving the group.
Earlier this year, Seungri made headlines when he mentioned Big Bang leader G-Dragon at an event in Cambodia. He said, "I'll bring G-Dragon here someday," and danced to the hit song "Good Boy" by Big Bang duo GD and Taeyang, angering the group's fans.
In May, it was reported that Seungri was preparing to open a nightclub in Cambodia.
