Agricultural product prices today August 5, 2024: Papaya prices increase sharply

After a period of falling to a low level, recently the price of papaya in many localities in the Mekong Delta has increased sharply again from 4,000-6,000 VND/kg, making papaya growers very excited.

The price of many types of papaya with yellow flesh, red flesh (Japanese variety), yellow flesh (Taiwanese variety...) is being sold by farmers in many places to traders and purchasing warehouses from 8,000-12,000 VND/kg.

The price increase is due to a decrease in supply because there are not many papayas ready to harvest, as well as because people in many places have reduced their planting areas. Pepper prices fluctuate strongly today

In the Southeast region, it decreased by 1,000 VND/kg in some localities compared to yesterday, trading around 145,000 - 146,000 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces was 146,000 VND/kg.

Dak Lak pepper price is purchased at 146,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Chu Se pepper price (Gia Lai) is purchased at 145,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND compared to yesterday. Dak Nong pepper price today is recorded at 146,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

In the Southeast region, pepper prices today decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Specifically, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, it is currently at 146,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday; in Binh Phuoc, pepper prices today remain at 146,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,176 USD/ton, and the price of Muntok white pepper at 8,793 USD/ton.

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is at 6,750 USD/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is at 8,500 USD/ton; the price of this country's ASTA white pepper is at 10,400 USD/ton.

Vietnamese black pepper prices remain high at 6,000 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 6,600 USD/ton for 550 g/l; and 8,800 USD/ton for white pepper.

Durian prices are low.

Durian prices are highest in the Southwest and Southeast regions and lowest in the Central Highlands. Prices at the orchard will be 3,000 - 5,000 VND/kg lower than the updated price at the warehouse, depending on how traders buy, buy in bulk or choose the price.

In the Southwest region, durian prices today are stable compared to yesterday for Thai durian. The beautiful Ri6 durian variety is 62,000 - 65,000 VND/kg and the Ri6 durian variety is 52,000 - 55,000 VND/kg; the beautiful Thai durian is 82,000 - 85,000 VND/kg; the Thai durian variety is 62,000 - 65,000 VND/kg, continuing to decrease compared to the previous session.

In the Central Highlands, the price of beautiful Ri6 durian is at 58,000 - 60,000 VND/kg and Ri6 durian in bucket is at the price that traders buy at 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg; beautiful Thai durian is at 80,000 - 85,000 VND/kg; Thai durian in bucket is at 60,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

Dried coconut prices increased from 5,000-20,000 VND/dozen

Compared to about a month ago, the price of dried coconuts in many localities in the Mekong Delta has increased by at least 5,000-20,000 VND/dozen (12 fruits) and is at its highest level in over a year. Currently, dried coconuts sold in the garden to traders are at 95,000-110,000 VND/dozen.

As for large whole dried coconuts and pre-peeled coconuts, from 1.2kg/fruit or more, many coconut processing facilities and enterprises purchase them at the factory at 110,000-120,000 VND/dozen.

Prices are increasing due to reduced supply as coconut productivity is decreasing at this time, while demand is increasing. Many traders and businesses are stepping up purchases for export and processing of products for domestic consumption...

Ngoc Linh ginseng price drops by half

Grade 1 Ngoc Linh ginseng sold at the ginseng market in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam is now 120 million VND per kilogram, half the price compared to the same period last year.

The 6th Ngoc Linh ginseng festival in Nam Tra My district is taking place. A farmer in Tra Linh commune brought a 700 gram ginseng plant with 5 branches, tubers, and roots over 7 cm high and full of fruit to the market to sell. They offered this plant for 200 million VND and 3 plants weighing 500 grams for more than 70 million VND. Like last year, a 700 gram plant cost 400 million VND, 3 plants weighing 500 grams sold for 150 million VND, but now the price is reduced by half and no one asks.

More than 10 stalls here sell Ngoc Linh ginseng, which the government has committed to be real ginseng from people and businesses. Grade 1 ginseng (10 roots per kilogram) costs 100-120 million VND, down 50% compared to last year. Similarly, grade 2 (20 roots per kilogram) costs 80-90 million VND, compared to 95-135 million VND last year.

Type 3 (30 roots per kg) costs about 65-75 million VND, type 4 (40 roots per kg) is 50-60 million VND and type 5 (50 roots per kg) is 40-50 million VND. Compared to last year, ginseng has decreased from 10 million to 30 million VND per kg. Ginseng with larger weight has a deeper price reduction.

The owner of a ginseng growing and trading business at the market said that since 2015, Ngoc Linh ginseng prices have started to increase. In 2020, grade 1 ginseng was sold for 240 million VND per kilogram, grade 5 for 60-75 million VND. By mid-2023, Ngoc Linh ginseng prices began to plummet.

Nam Tra My district has planned a Ngoc Linh ginseng growing area of ​​over 15,000 hectares, currently preserving about 100 hectares equivalent to about 2 million plants. Ginseng is grown by more than 1,500 households on about 1,650 hectares and 18 enterprises on more than 340 hectares. The annual output is about 10 tons, worth 600 billion VND.
