Accordingly, regarding e-commerce tax management, the management agency said that 130 foreign service providers including "big guys" such as Meta, Google, TikTok... registered, declared and paid taxes through the Portal for this group with an estimated revenue of VND 2,791 billion in February.
In addition, the country currently has nearly 725,000 organizations and individuals doing business on e-commerce platforms with a transaction scale of up to 75,000 billion VND . In particular, the Tax Department also recorded more than 33,000 business households and individuals registering, declaring and paying taxes on the e-commerce portal for business households and individuals with a payment of nearly 160 billion VND .
According to the Tax Department, the total revenue in February managed by this agency reached VND192,360 billion, equal to 11.2% of the estimate, equal to 170.1% compared to the same period. Of which, revenue from crude oil was VND4,454 billion, domestic revenue was VND187,905 billion. The total accumulated state budget revenue in the first two months of the year managed by the tax agency is estimated at VND484,884 billion, equal to 28.2% of the estimate, equal to 135.1% compared to the same period.
In 2 months, the tax sector conducted 8,339 tax inspections and audits. The amount of proposed settlement was 13,370 billion VND, equal to 274% of the same period.
Regarding tax refunds, in the first two months of the year, 3,327 value-added tax refund decisions were issued with a refund amount of VND 25,716 billion.
Regarding the implementation of electronic tax registration and payment services via the Etax Mobile application, to date, there have been nearly 3 million downloads, installations and uses (an increase of 33.7% compared to the end of 2024), over 5 million transactions with a payment amount of VND 10,351 billion.
Notably, according to the Law on Tax Administration (amended) recently passed by the National Assembly, from April 1, e-commerce platforms and digital platforms with payment functions will have to deduct and pay taxes on behalf of sellers for each transaction. This regulation is assessed by the Ministry of Finance to significantly reduce administrative procedures for sellers, while strengthening tax management for online business activities.
Management data for the 2022 - 2024 period shows that tax revenue from organizations and individuals doing e-commerce business tends to increase, from VND 83,000 billion in 2022 to VND 97,000 billion in 2023 and is estimated to reach VND 116,000 billion in 2024.
