Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this August the department will issue a document guiding the preparation for the 10th grade exam in 2025. This is the first 10th grade exam according to the 2018 general education program.

According to Mr. Hieu, basically, students still take three exams including literature, math, and foreign language to apply for regular grade 10. Students applying for specialized grade 10 will take an additional exam in specialized subjects.

"It is expected that in October, the department will announce sample test questions for each subject so that secondary schools can have guidance in teaching students," said Mr. Hieu.

The leader of the city's education and training sector also said that because this is the first year that students take the 10th grade exam according to the 2018 general education program, the exam questions will be designed to assess students' abilities. Specifically, the exam questions will require candidates to apply the knowledge they have learned to solve real-life problems.

Speaking more about this, Mr. Hieu said that the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City has been following this orientation for more than 10 years. However, the level of innovation is different each year. By 2025, the 10th grade entrance exam will more clearly demonstrate the orientation of assessing students' abilities, in accordance with the 2018 general education program.

Regarding the 10th grade specialized exam in physics, chemistry, biology, history, and geography, according to the Director of the City Department of Education and Training, students will take the specialized exam in natural sciences, history and geography according to the 2018 general education program at the secondary school level. The Department of Education and Training will have specific instructions on this so that teachers and students can prepare early.
