More than 50 members, children of Tay Tien veterans, participated in the meaningful journey, with gratitude to the generation of their fathers and grandfathers, the gallant soldiers who once left the beloved Capital to defend the Western front at the sacred call of the Fatherland.
They achieved resounding victories such as the Muong Lap Victory, Hua Phan, Laos (October 1945); the battles in Ngoc Lau district (late 1947), now Tu Do commune, Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province.
Many soldiers sacrificed their lives on the battlefield and many young soldiers “returned to the ground in their robes” due to not being able to overcome severe malaria. At Chau Trang Military Hospital, Thuong Coc, Hoa Binh, 200 soldiers died of malaria. Here, the Tay Tien veterans and local authorities erected a memorial monument with the words “The Tay Tien spirit is eternal”.

At the national relic site of the Tay Tien Soldiers Memorial (Na Bo Hill, Moc Chau Town, Son La), the Tay Tien Tradition Liaison Committee also presented gifts including 30 books “The Tay Tien Soldiers” by poet Quang Dung to 30 outstanding students; 1,000 notebooks to primary and secondary school students, and 60 coloring books to kindergarten children of schools named after Tay Tien. The total value of the gifts was more than 20 million VND contributed by the children of Tay Tien War Veterans.
The amount of money is not much, but the meaning of the bond between the army and the people has been promoted since the time when our ancestors fought and were loved and protected by the people of all ethnic groups. Today, the descendants of the Tay Tien veterans still keep this tradition alive.
