Responding to Dan Tri reporters on the evening of August 13, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that regarding the information that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet (Venerable Thich Chan Quang) did not have a high school diploma according to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry had initial verification showing that there was a basis to doubt the quality of this diploma.

At the same time, the Ministry continues to coordinate with security agencies to investigate other important information related to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's qualifications.

Currently, public opinion is very concerned. If the story about not having a high school diploma is true, how will Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's later degrees, such as his university and doctorate, be handled?

Regarding this, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy said that the Ministry of Education and Training has conducted an inspection and verification of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's training records at Hanoi Law University.

The training process records are basically not contrary to the legal regulations applicable to the case of student Vuong Tan Viet. The records show some shortcomings in the training process but have been overcome during the training process.

According to current regulations on doctoral training, the Ministry of Education and Training has sent independent reviewers to assess the quality of theses.

Based on the evaluation results, the Ministry of Education and Training will establish a Thesis Evaluation Council in accordance with regulations. This process will take more time to organize and implement.

"The Ministry of Education and Training is a state management agency, making decisions and handling them must be careful and in compliance with legal regulations. In addition, during the process of verifying the case, there is information that is not allowed to be published without sufficient grounds.

The Ministry of Education and Training has proactively coordinated with relevant agencies to have clear and certain information before the competent authority makes an official announcement," said Ms. Thuy.

Mr. Vuong Tan Viet recently caused a stir when he successfully defended his doctoral thesis at Hanoi Law University in a period of 2 years and 3 months.

Hanoi Law University affirmed that the total doctoral training time of student Vuong Tan Viet meets and complies with the doctoral training regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and the school's decision.

The Ministry of Education and Training has sent an official dispatch requesting relevant units to report on the content related to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's learning process.

Up to this point, the two universities related to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's undergraduate and graduate degrees, Hanoi University and Hanoi Law University, both said that the schools have not received any requests or documents from the Ministry of Education and Training regarding Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's case.

When requested by the authorities, schools will implement and process university degrees according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
