Pregnant woman Ph.LM, Dao ethnic group, residing in Doan Ket quarter, Muong Lat town, Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province. The patient developed the disease on August 1, was confirmed positive for diphtheria on August 5 and was transferred to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment. After a period of treatment for diphtheria, receiving intensive care and retesting with negative results, and in good health, the medical agency allowed the patient to be discharged from the hospital.
The patient continues to be isolated at home, limiting contact with others for 7 days; and is monitored as an outpatient for 60-70 days (according to Decision No. 2957/QD-BYT dated July 10, 2020 of the Minister of Health on the diagnosis and treatment of diphtheria).
Previously, two family members who had close contact with the patient also tested positive for diphtheria and are currently being treated in isolation at the Provincial General Hospital and Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital; 34 F1 cases are isolated at home and taking preventive medicine, so their health is normal.

Also according to Muong Lat District Medical Center, the diphtheria outbreak in Doan Ket neighborhood, Muong Lat town is being well controlled, meeting the requirements for epidemic prevention.
