Thailand flies flags at half-mast in memory of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

VOV.VN - Thai Government spokesman Chai Watcharong said yesterday (July 31) that the Thai Prime Minister has requested that the flag be flown at half-mast on August 1-2, 2024 to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin visited, offered wreaths and signed the condolence book for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

According to Mr. Chai Watcharong, Prime Minister Srettha has requested all government agencies and state-owned enterprises nationwide to fly flags at half-mast for the first two days of August to commemorate General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, who passed away on July 19 at the age of 80.

Previously (on July 25), Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, on behalf of the Royal Government and people of Thailand, visited, offered wreaths and signed the condolence book for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand. Writing in the condolence book, Prime Minister Srettha expressed his deep condolences and sympathy to the Government and people of Vietnam as well as the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at this time of grief.
