On August 9, according to a source from Dan Tri reporter, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of Ca Mau province has just proposed that the People's Committee of this province direct the police to investigate and clarify signs of law violations against 2 fishing boats related to the voyage monitoring device (VMS).
According to initial information, at around 2:45 p.m. on August 7, at the house of Mr. D.MT (47 years old, residing in Phong Dien commune, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province), the inspection team of the Ca Mau Fisheries Control Department discovered a VMS device on the roof of Mr. T's house.
Authorities determined that this was a VMS device installed on fishing boat CM-91955-TS, owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Ut (34 years old, residing in Tran Van Thoi district).

Also on the afternoon of August 7, the inspection team discovered a VMS device on the roof of the house behind Mrs. PTL (69 years old, Mr. T.’s mother). The device was determined to be installed on the fishing boat KG-90819-TS, owned by Mr. TVD (residing in Kien Giang province). This fishing boat had been sold to Mr. Nguyen Van Ut but had not yet been transferred.
Working with the authorities, Mr. T. said that around the end of July, the fishing boat manager of Mr. Nguyen Van Ut came to leave a VMS device at his house and a VMS device at Ms. L.'s house.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau province, after checking, fishing boat CM-91955-TS left the sea on April 3, and fishing boat KG-90819-TS left the sea on June 1. These two fishing boats may have had their VMS equipment removed on the day they left the sea and were brought ashore for hiding. Currently, both boats have not returned to shore.
Authorities initially identified two fishing vessels that violated administrative regulations related to removing, sending, and concealing VMS equipment for the purpose of illegally exploiting aquatic resources (not excluding cases of illegally exploiting aquatic resources in foreign waters) in recent times.
